Spokane, the largest city east of the Cascade Mountian range in Washington State, has a very lively bar scene. With Gonzaga, Whitworth, Eastern Washington and Washington State University campuses all around the town, the downtown bar strip is always alive with partying crowds. Even on the weekdays you can find live bands playing at each of the different venues and cocktails flowing aplenty.

1. Zola

Bar, Cocktail Bar, American, Pub Grub

Right in the heart of downtown Spokane, Zola is one of the hottest bars in town, drawing in crowds even on the weekdays. The ambient atmosphere is very warm and inviting; perfect for chatting with friends. Every night at around 9pm they have live entertainment from local singers and bands. The upstairs is a quaint area with a comfy couch and a couple of booth-style tables only meant to fit two or three people. This cocktail bar also has an extensive kitchen to quench those late-night or early evening cravings.

2. Volstead Act

Bar, Cocktail Bar, American, Pub Grub

This is a fairly small hole-in-the-wall cocktail bar in the Spokane area but with great cocktail concoctions. It’s named after the National Prohibition Act from the ’20s, which explains its rather unknown and hidden location. They specialize in unique cocktail making, using atypical liqueurs, syrups and garnishes. Volstead Act is also the self-proclaimed ome to the best crafted cocktails in Spokane. Happy hour is from 3-7pm everyday, 12 to close Friday to Saturday and a whopping all day on Sunday!

3. The Blind Buck

Bar, Gay Bar, Pub Grub, American

This is a fun bar in downtown Spokane to hangout at with friends. It’s got loud music and delicious cocktails to help dance the night away. Blind Buck usually gets super-packed and is a more of a club-type bar catering to the college scene. It’s right next to The Globe and many other bars downtown so perfect for a bit of bar-hopping.

5. Peacock Room Lounge

Bar, Cocktails

On the bottom floor of the Historic Davenport Hotel, The Peacock Lounge is an elegant spot known for its fine-dining and award-winning double martinis. The ceiling has a 5,000 pieced stained-glass decoration that gives off a jazzy and sophisticated ambiance. It’s located in the heart of downtown, around Spokane’s major concert venues and theaters, so you can grab a drink before or after that evening show.
