Anasazi

Restaurant, Steakhouse, $$
Anasazi Steakhouse and Gallery combines upscale, special-occasion dining with local art and photography. The dining room displays photography and metalwork from local artists, most of which is also available for purchase. Anasazi’s flair for artistic presentation is carried over to the food: meats are dramatically presented and cooked at guests’ tables on sizzling volcanic rocks. A house favorite – especially for groups – is the cheese fondue: a bubbling pot of cheese, accompanied by apples, bread and vegetables for dipping, perfect for sharing.

Bear Paw Cafe

Cafe, American, $

Bear Paw Cafe is an American-style venue which serves simple, good food. Start your day with a mammoth full-stack of peanut butter pancakes or a baked apple. If you visit for lunch try the Bear Paw 2-Story Club: ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiched between thick slices of sourdough bread.

Benja’s Thai Garden

Restaurant, Thai, $
Located in St. George’s historic Ancestor Square, Benja’s serves Thai and other Asian cuisine. Popular choices include curries, pad thai, and mango sticky rice.

Cappeletti’s

Restaurant, Italian, $
Cappeletti’s is a family-owned Italian restaurant. Located in just steps away from the St. George Latter-Day Saint tabernacle, Cappeletti’s design includes antique features and exposed brick. Some of the most popular dishes on the menu are the chef’s handmade gnocchi and ravioli with seasonally inspired sauces and slow-cooked meats.

Cliffside

Restaurant, American, $$
Cliffside Restaurant and Inn is perched atop a majestic sandstone cliff overlooking St. George. Panoramic windows offer diners sweeping vistas of the city below and the famous red rocks. The menu offers beautifully presented American fare.

Mad Pita Express

Restaurant, Fusion, $
The locale of a strip-mall seems unlikely to house really good food, but Mad Pita is a delightful exception to the rule. You’ll find impressively large portions of classic dishes like lamb gyro, falafel, and tabouleh. There’s also baklava and a very popular orange zest rice pudding.

Painted Pony

Restaurant, American, $$
Painted Pony is located in Ancestor Square, a commercial complex made up of historically significant buildings. Expect dishes like sage-smoked quail. Painted Pony’s chic atmosphere, impeccable food and extensive wine list make this fine dining destination one of the best in the city.

Riggatti’s Wood Fired Pizza

Restaurant, Italian, $
Rigatti’s serves delicious, high-quality authentic Neapolitan-style pizza, tossed by hand and baked in a brick, wood-burning oven. Classics like the margherita and quattro formaggio are tasty, safe options, while other unique ingredients like kebab meat, pineapple or barbecue sauce, offer new and interesting flavor combinations.
