Before pooches arrive, bowls and doggy beds are set up to make sure pets are every bit as comfortable as their owners. The Hyatt Place Park City allows two dogs with a combined weight of up to 75lbs (34kg) for an additional fee of $75 (£57) – for stays of one to six nights – and $175 (£132) for stays of seven to 30 nights. If you want to spend some time away from your pooch, though, make sure they are well-behaved – only good boys and girls may be left unattended in rooms. There are plenty of trees to sniff at this mountainside resort hotel as well as ski-in, ski-out access via St. Regis Deer Valley’s own funicular. Three dogs weighing up to 80lbs (36kg) can stay with you at $150 (£113) per stay. While pooches can be left unattended in rooms, housekeeping won’t go inside while they are there. Beds and bowls are provided, and there’s a grassy expanse with a pet station at the hotel.

Two pets of up to 80lbs (36kg) are welcome at the Best Western for only $20 (£15) per pet per night, plus a $200 (£150) refundable deposit. Leave the pooches at home if you want to stay in one of the lovely poolside rooms – sadly, they are not pet-friendly. Refreshingly, the hotel is open to other critters like cats and birds, although they may not be left in the room unattended. Your pet-friendly stay starts the moment you walk in, with treats at the front desk.

If you don’t mind sticking to a standard room, the Sheraton Park City welcomes pets up to 45lbs (20kg) for an additional fee of $50 (£38) per stay. Both dogs and cats are welcome and, if they are well-behaved, may be left in the room unattended. The hotel will provide you with cuddly beds – while the courtyard is a nice spot to play some fetch.
