Hiding in plain sight, Meadow Hot Springs are three thermal pools located just outside of Fillmore in Utah. The waters are crystal clear and hover at a pleasant 100F (37C) making them the ultimate relaxation experience in the middle of the desert.

The Meadow Hot Springs sit on privately owned land, but visitors can take a dip at any time. The naturally formed pools are reachable via well-maintained dirt roads and guests can park close to the edge, with two simple rules to follow: pack away whatever you take with you, and leave no rubbish behind.

The waters can be deceptively deep – with one of the pools going as far down as 30ft (9 meters) – so caution is advised. Some visitors have brought along goggles and snorkelling equipment to get the best views of the bottom of the pools.

The small town of Meadow is along the I-15 road, a popular route many people travel along everyday, though the thermally heated pools are not well known at all. As they sit on private land, the owners have signposted a number of directions and simple rules to keep things as straight forward as possible for members of the public.

The largest pool, which is the one featured in our video, has a rope helpfully stretched across its width so swimmers have an extra safety guide to help them cross from one side to the other.

If a proper swim is too daunting, some of the edges allow you to dangle your feet into the pleasantly warm waters, and the pools make for a great activity at any time of year – well worth hunting down if you ever find yourself in Utah.
