From catching a comedy show to sampling some jazz in a swanky club, this Downtown has options for whatever you are into. Based mostly around the Sundance Square Plaza in Fort Worth, many of these places are within a stone’s throw of each other, so it won’t take long to find some excellent entertainment.

1. Bass Performance Hall

Theatre

Built in 1998 with the look of a classic European opera house, the Bass Performance Hall is the predominant home of theater in Fort Worth. Hosting a huge variety of both theater and music, the hall has featured some fantastic performances over the years from Hamilton and Jesus Christ Superstar to regular performances from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Located just off Sundance Square Plaza, the theater was a major addition to the regeneration of Fort Worth’s downtown.

2. ArtSpace111

Art Gallery

Founded in 1980 by twin brothers Daniel and Dennis Blagg, Art111 is a 3,000sq ft (279sq m) space devoted to contemporary Texan art. Based on Hampton street, the gallery is home to the best from local artists, with several exhibitions running throughout the year and guided tours available to book. As an added treat, outside you’ll find two dedicated sculpture gardens to enjoy in the summer sun.

3. Panther Island Brewing

Bar, Beer

Just across the river, you can find Panther Island Brewing. With a great view of downtown Fort Worth, the superb microbrewery is a great destination for some day-time drinking. With the taproom serving four of its most popular beers all year round as well as seasonal specialities, this is a must visit for beer nuts. If the brews are not enough, the taproom also hosts regular live music and has several food trucks just outside.

5. Scat Jazz Lounge

Music Venue

Voted one of the 25 must see Jazz Venues in the US, the Scat Jazz Lounge is a great hideaway for all music lovers. Found in an alley just off 4th Street, in the basement of the city’s historic Woolworth building, the venue plays host to the best in local and national talent. In the dark and swanky club, you will be able to find a selection of delicious cocktails and excellent entertainment. Although the club has a simple dress code, make sure to dress smart to avoid disappointment.

6. Reata Restaurant

Restaurant, BBQ

A Fort Worth staple, Reata Restaurant has been open for business since 2002. Situated in the Sundance Square Plaza and featuring a fantastic glass-domed roof in its event space, the Reata is an authentic Texan steakhouse. With a brunch, lunch and dinner menu on offer, the restaurant is open throughout the day. On your visit, be sure to order the popular Tenderloin Tamales, you won’t be disappointed!
