The St Anthony, known as the first luxury hotel in Texas, is a landmark building that’s hosted prominent ranchers and politicians since its conception in 1909. It’s been extensively refurbished but retains an old-world feel, with ballrooms, marble columns and an antique piano. As for its pet policy, the hotel charges a $100 fee for up to two dogs weighing up to 40lb (18kg), and you’ll be given pet beds and bowls at check-in, along with directions to nearby Travis Park for walks and toilet breaks.
