The Iris, for a seamless stay

The Iris is a little different from many other cheap hotels in Nashville. The guest experience here is completely contactless; guests check into the hotel and check out digitally and there’s no front desk on site – if you have any questions, you can contact a member of staff virtually. The rooms, meanwhile, are smart spaces with wooden floors, whitewashed walls, mini-fridges, and coffee makers. There’s no restaurant, but the eateries and bars of Downtown Nashville are a 15-minute walk away.

Clarion Hotel Nashville Downtown, for an excellent location

You don’t often get as much from a cheap hotel in Tennessee as you get from the Clarion Hotel Nashville Downtown. The hotel is home to a heated pool, a bar, restaurant, and a collection of rooms that look out over the Nashville skyline. It’s in a great location, too – just across the Cumberland River from the Honkey Tonk Highway. If you need to get into town in a hurry, though, you can take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle.

Gallatin Nashville, for bright and well-appointed rooms

The Gallatin is a go-to for anyone looking for hotel deals in Nashville. Set in the east of the city, it has a dizzying variety of rooms catering to couples, groups, and solo travelers. The facilities are different in each type of room but there are mini-fridges, Dyson hairdryers, and noise machines dotted amongst the mix. No matter which option you pick, though, you’ll find sweetshop-bright color schemes and music-themed art on the walls.

The Hayes Street Hotel Nashville, for easy-on-the-eye style

As far as Nashville cheap hotels go, The Hayes Street Hotel – a half-hour walk from the Honkey Tonk Highway – is one of the easiest on the eye. The hotel has a photo-worthy reception area with swing chairs, a guest snug lined with bookcases, and a stylish cocktail bar with white leather bar stools. The rooms, meanwhile, have a minimalist vibe, spaces with whitewashed walls and calming white bed linens.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Nashville Downtown, for Music City chic

This modern hotel is a 25-minute walk from Nashville’s Honkey Tonk Highway. Its decor drops subtle hints as to its musical location – there are prints of pianos and treble clefs on headboards in the bedrooms, for example, and there’s a floor-to-ceiling guitar and keyboard mural in reception. For the nights you don’t feel like venturing into the heart of Music City, the hotel has its own bar and restaurant called Cork and Cast that serves classic American dishes.

Best Western Plus Music Row, for a stellar Music Row location

Music Row is where Nashville’s real work takes place; you might see a star walking in or out of a studio, but for the most part, this isn’t a tourist-centric strip. Even so, the cross streets are chockablock with bars and restaurants, and from this central location, you can easily get to sample them all. Rooms are nice to return to, with funky wallpaper designs with images of the city skyline plus guitar art. There’s affordable parking available, a rarity for a property this close to downtown.

Moxy Nashville Downtown, for party people

It would be hard to be more in the center of all of Nashville’s honky-tonk action than at this hotel, with its friendly, corporate-hip vibe. The checkin clerk doubles as the bartender, and you’ll be given a drink to get you started when you arrive. Expect some noise and music from the surrounding buildings in your room – you might want to take one without windows, which will also be good for sleeping in after a late night. Less lovely, of course, if you want natural light.

Courtyard by Marriott Nashville Green Hills, for a shopping spree

The Green Hills neighborhood is known for shopping, restaurants, more shopping, and the world-famous Bluebird Cafe. Staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Nashville Green Hills puts you slap-bang in the center of all that urban hubbub. Carpeted guest rooms are of ample size. The spacious lobby is characterful enough for a chain hotel: you can gather around a fireplace or drift into space, gazing out of full-height windows. It even opens out to a courtyard with a fire pit.
