The District neighborhood in Nashville has many popular attractions and restaurants. Sometimes the amount of choices can be overwhelming, so below we have compiled a list of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat in the area.

1. Capitol Grille

Located in Nashville’s Hermitage Hotel is Capitol Grille. This restaurant features upscale classic Southern dishes. Although their cuisine focuses on traditional Southern specialties, they attempt to integrate modern cooking methods in order to create delectable fare. The restaurant is also dedicated to using local ingredients, and their beef is sustainably sourced from their own farm.

2. Merchants

Merchants offers Southern bistro cuisine. Located in the historical old Merchant’s Hotel, the restaurant covers two floors. The first floor serves casual bistro food, while the second floor caters provides a more formal dining experience. In addition to their cuisine, they also offer an extensive cocktail list.

3. Acme Feed & Seed

Acme Feed & Seed is located in a large entertainment space with multiple storys. On the first floor, they offer ‘street-food’ style cuisine and two bars with 28 beers on tap. The second floor features a relaxed sports bar that offers handcrafted cocktails and a sushi bar, and the third floor features The Hatchery at Acme, a large open space that people can rent out for special occasions. The restaurant hosts live music performers that represent Nashville’s diverse music scene.

4. Kitchen Notes

Kitchen Notes offers traditional Southern food in a casual and homey environment. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, and their cuisine originates from family recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. The restaurant employs a farm-to-table concept and only uses the freshest ingredients. Do not miss out on their quaint Biscuit Bar and their Sunday brunch.

5. Etch

For Chef Deb Paquette, Etch is a homegrown restaurant. Paquette has lived in Nashville for the last 30 years and became the chef of Etch in 2010. Previously, she was the chef and owner of Zola, which was named one of the Top 60 Restaurants in the United States. Her gift for creative cuisine is internationally renowned, and Etch’s extensive wine list perfectly accompanies the diverse menu.

6. The Southern

The Southern is an upscale restaurant that serves Southern cuisine with a modern twist. Enjoy their shuck-to-order oyster bar and sustainable seafood, and the wood-fired grilled meats. Chef Matt Farley believes that the most important thing is, “having honest food that brings out the flavors of good, simple ingredients,” and the restaurant does exactly that, by preserving tradition while incorporating new methods and ingredients.

7. Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant

Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant is a lively restaurant and bar open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with live entertainment acts showcasing their talents every night. Family owned and operated, the establishment serves traditional Southern cuisine.

8. Robert’s Western World

Robert’s Western World is located in the heart of historic downtown Nashville, near the Ryman Auditorium. Their building used to be the home of the Sho-Bud Steel Guitar Company, where many famous musicians hung out, and in the 90’s the building became what it is today. Today, people can enjoy some cold beer and pub fare whilst enjoying true country tunes.
