The Philadelphia Ritz is located in the center of the city, inside a 1908 Neoclassical building, reflecting the city’s historical charm. There’s a Latin restaurant onsite that offers a raw bar, ceviche and sushi bar, and an extensive list of Mezcal. With crafty cocktails and plenty of tequila, this is the perfect place to kick off a bachelorette weekend. Brazilian short ribs, Baja fish tacos, and smoked swordfish dip all grace the restaurant’s menu. The hotel spa offers honey and hibiscus body wraps and warm stone massages, among other treats. The rooms themselves overlook the city. The Philadelphia Ritz is truly a sanctuary for a luxury getaway.

Within sight of the historic Carpenter’s Hall is Buddakan. A giant Buddha statue overlooks the communal table (although there are also private tables). The low lighting, ambient music, and professional servers make this restaurant an experience before you even get the food. The crab fried rice is a favorite, and the wasabi mashed potatoes can be added to any meal. The entire menu serves Asian food with a modern twist. Plus, the candlelit dining area makes any meal romantic. This place is a hotspot in the Philly restaurant scene.

El Vez

Bar, Restaurant, Mexican

If looking for a Mexican fix, this upscale fusion restaurant may hit the spot. The décor is just as appealing as the food, with its gold velvet-tufted booths and light-up, rotating bike in the bar. El Vez’s food is beautiful, ranging from tacos to burritos to enchiladas, all made with simple yet fresh and tasty ingredients. They have a quirky margarita list, so make sure to hang out at the bar and sip a frozen blood orange version.

This is one of the only boats of its kind that offers dining on deck. It’s a Philadelphia classic that even made an appearance in one of the Rocky movies. The atmosphere is rustic nautical-meets-modern, and the cuisine is top notch. The ship hosts private parties as well as walk-ins. The menu features American classic cuisine, and offers dishes like sea scallops, boneless ribeye, Scottish salmon, and crab cakes. They have an extensive wine, beer and cocktail list that can be enjoyed while lounging on the deck.

Where to drink and party

Hop Sing Laundromat

Bar, American

One of the best cocktail bars in the country, Hop Sing Laundromat is a speakeasy-style bar with no sign and an iron gate in front. To enter, ring the doorbell that is answered by the doorman, who may interrogate you with questions or turn you away for your clothing or lack of ID. No sandals or cell phones are allowed, and only groups of four or more are admitted. However, when you enter, you’ll find yourself sipping expertly crafted cocktails. They have every liquor imaginable, and bartenders climb a ladder to grab bottles from the top shelves. The dark library-style room is cozy and perfectly intimate for a date. They accept cash only.

Philadelphia Distilling

This working distillery makes mostly gin, and they do it well. After fine tuning their craft, the distillers opened up a tasting room and cocktail lounge in Fishtown, one of Philly’s most trendy neighborhoods. Inside, the tasting room is industrial with exposed brick walls, bare ceiling beams, and wood finishings. The giant distilling kettles can be seen through the window behind the bar. There are plush leather chairs, artsy coffee table books, and speakeasy-style cocktails.

Howl at the Moon

Bar, Nightclub, American

This dueling piano bar is one of the liveliest places to drink in Philadelphia. The crowd tends to be young, unless there is a bachelor or bachelorette party coming through. Expect live music, neon lights, buckets of booze, and a rowdy crowd. There’s a nightclub vibe, a variety of music, and lots of wild behavior. If you want a truly rowdy night out, Howl at the Moon is the place to be.

Located along the Delaware River waterfront, this outdoor club and beer garden is the place to be during summer. It can be found right below the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, which is the perfect backdrop both night and day. The pier has been rated one of Philadelphia’s top bars, and it is always buzzing. They often host BBQs during the day, and bring DJs in during the evenings. They have a renowned chef serving up shrimp and crab rolls, Italian roast pork, and Whoopie Pies with passionfruit cream filling. During the day, the place is packed with Philadelphians getting day drunk while watching the cars zoom across the bridge. In the evenings, the music is thumping, cocktails are poured, and the Ben Franklin Bridge is beautifully lit up in the background.

Rumor

Bar, Nightclub, American

This upscale nightclub is one of the best places to party in Philly. There are multiple bars and dance floors, as well as a VIP lounge. The club hosts DJs from around the world who bring an energetic vibe to the club that’s great for dancing. Rumor is a hotspot with the younger crowd, and offers bottle service and professional dancers. They host events, and offer special attention for birthdays and other celebrations.
