Benjamin Franklin was one of the most famous residents of Philadelphia – that is, until Big Bird moved in. As one of the only two Sesame Street-dedicated theme parks in the USA, Sesame Place is a must-visit for fans of the show. Here are the best hotels around Sesame Place, now bookable with Culture Trip.

1. The Brick Hotel

Hotel

Built in 1763, The Brick Hotel has a storied past that includes a visit by George Washington. Though the clientele no longer includes Revolutionary War heroes, you can still savor the Victorian-era architecture and bar stocked full of old spirits. Want to build a brick hotel of your own? The LEGOLAND Discovery Center is 30 minutes away and can provide you with the colorful bricks to build the mini-motel of your dreams.

2. Temperance House

Hotel

The Temperance House is a bit of a misnomer, but it’s no less comfortable or convenient of a stay. Suites overlooking State Street hang above a seafood restaurant overflowing with classic crab cakes, Nova Scotia salmon and lightly breaded fresh catches. You’ll immediately spot the Tap and Barrel Tavern, which may seem to stick out like a sore thumb at the Temperance House. Just know that it’s not the only room full of spirits, as you may discover when you sleep in the Haunted Porter’s Room.

3. Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Langhorne

Chain Hotel

At Courtyard by Marriott, the letter “C” stands for more than just comfort. It’s close to Sesame Place and a Parx Casino if you want to play craps or cards. Your suite has in-room coffee available if you’re trying to stay caffeinated before calming down with evening cocktails at The Bistro. There’s also a fitness center for your daily cardio session, a pool to keep you cool and a communal fire pit, where you can cozy up with your BFFs.

5. Sheraton Bucks County Langhorne

It’s hard to be a grouch when you spend a night at the Sheraton in Bucks County. Even the traditional rooms – long, rectangular and without an aluminum wall in sight – are spacious, comfortable and exceptionally clean. The suites do have blackout curtains, so it’s easy to put a lid on an unnecessarily early wake-up. The pros: free wifi, a sparkling pool and a 24-hour fitness center. The cons: if you love trash, we regret to inform you that housekeeping will empty every can.

6. Springhill Suites by Marriott Philadelphia Langhorne

Chain Hotel

If you happen to be a cute, furry little friend with a bright red cap, you can fly from Springhill Suites to Sesame Place in an instant. Don’t worry; if you’re not Super Grover, you can simply walk across the connected walkway and get into the park. Snag a grab-and-go breakfast on your way or stop at Captain Ernie’s Bistro for chicken wraps and pizza slices that even picky eaters will love.

7. Springhill Suites by Marriott Ewing Princeton South

Chain Hotel

Springhill Suites by Marriott is just over the Delaware River in New Jersey, keeping you within 15 minutes of Sesame Place and not much farther from Six Flags Great Adventure. The ABCs of amenities are all here, including a pool, a fitness center and free breakfasts. This hotel is pet-friendly, though you may want to double-check if that’s limited to dogs and cats before you invite Mr Snuffleupagus to share a double queen room with you.

8. Element Ewing Princeton

Golf Hotel

The Element in Ewing Township is an ideal stay for single adults and small families. The little ones will dig free waffles and eggs at breakfast, while the adults love wine, beer and cheese at the evening reception. Want to play a fun game while you drive? Count the number of golf courses you can plan to hit next time you bring the kids up to Sesame Place. One, two, three, four.

9. Homewood Suites by Hilton Newtown - Langhorne, PA

Homewood Suites by Hilton has a two-bedroom suite that can sleep eight, so everyone from the Street can join your adventure. Elmo will gladly share the sofa bed with anyone who loves to snuggle, and Julia will love plugging her tunes into the MP3 compatible clock radio. There is a full-sized refrigerator in the fully equipped kitchen, though we have a feeling a certain Cookie Monster will fill it with milk. There’s only one king bed, so, maybe, let Big Bird claim the extra leg length.

10. River House at Odette's

Hotel

Fans of smooth whiskey and riverside bliss will find a home in the River House at Odette’s. It’s way too easy to slip into complacency in the Bridge & Bow Suites. Start every morning with coffee on the balcony, cook any meal you wish in the fully equipped kitchen, and end each night with drinks by the fireplace.
