With an abundance of popular restaurants serving an array of delicious dishes, Oklahoma City is a real foodie’s city. From succulent steaks and fresh fish, to good old pub grub and dinner with a view, we list the best menus to try in Oklahoma’s largest city.

1. Cheevers

Offering contemporary American comfort food, Cheever’s Cafe fast found its place amongst the most popular restaurants in Oklahoma City after opening in 2000. With a menu made up of succulent steaks, fine seafood and fresh salads, all prepared in a contemporary Southwestern style, Cheever’s has ensured that there is a dish to suit all appetites.

2. Flint

Hotel Restaurant, Restaurant, Charcuterie, American, Mediterranean, European

Diners must choose their fuel, sparks, fire and embers (that’s drink, starter, main and dessert) to dream up the most perfect meal at Flint. Order the challah bread Frenchtoast, apple and wood-smoked bacon and orange, passion fruit and mint juice for a brilliant start to the day. Alternatively, stop by for a tasty lunch of iced tea, tomato basil bisque, buffalo chicken wrap and white chocolate cheesecake. At dinner order the charcuterie board, mixed grill and banana cream pie or pull up a pew on the outdoor patio to sample a selection of seasonally inspired cocktails whilst gathering around the fire pit to watch the sun set over the city.

3. Iron Star

Situated right in the heart of Oklahoma City, Iron Star is an urban barbecue offering a blend of fine-dining and smokehouse flavour at its ever-full restaurant. The wooden floors and bare brick walls create a cosy, welcoming atmosphere enhanced further by the menu bursting with comfort food-style dishes. Reservations can be made online and happy hour takes place every week day between 2 and 6 p.m.

4. Picasso on Paseo

Doubling up as an arts venue as well as a restaurant, Picasso on Paseo truly is a hive of culture. Ideally situated within the Paseo Arts District, it is the perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner whilst visiting the area of Oklahoma known for its buzzing art scene. Using only locally sourced ingredients, chefs at Picasso on Paseo create a range of dishes new each day.

5. Red PrimeSteak

Restaurant, Steakhouse

Choose from dry-aged beef, prime Midwestern beef, Kobe beef and even buffalo at this meat-loving restaurant. Using only the most succulent of cuts, Red PrimeSteak rubs fragrant spices into the meat before cooking to ensure that each steak is served at its optimum tastiness. Housed within the Buick building, it’s worth a visit simply to admire the architecture.

6. Redrock Canyon

Part of the Hal Smith restaurant group, diners at Redrock Canyon can be certain that the food on offer will be of the highest quality. Serving a mixture of Southwestern and American cuisine, portions at Redrock are plentiful and rich in flavour and taste. Guests are welcomed into the restaurant by hospitable staff and seated in a casual setting that takes its charm from the stone walls, deep mahogany beams and the open kitchen where diners can watch as their steaks are expertly flambéed.

7. Republic Gastropub

As much a pub as it is a restaurant, Republic Gastropub’s mission is ‘to bridge the gap between public house and upscale restaurant,’ and it certainly does a fine job in doing so. With a huge array of 100 beers on tap and around 250 hand-selected international bottled beers there’s certain to be a brew to match each dish on the menu a few times over. Food includes typical pub classics with a modern American twist. Live sporting events are also displayed on big screens around the gastropub.

8. Castle Falls

One of the most romantic spots not only in Oklahoma but in the whole of the USA too, Castle Falls was established in 1945 in the centre of Oklahoma City. This beautiful castle exudes a glorious old-fashioned charm and is home to the fine-dining restaurant. Having won many awards for its high-end cuisine, diners can expect a range of European dishes on the menu.

To truly dine with a view, book a table at Vast situated within the Devon Tower. This elegant restaurant offers unrivalled views across the city alongside delicious dishes at lunch and dinner time.
