House of Yes

Say “no thanks” to boring, buttoned-up nightclubs at House of Yes, a Bushwick-based experience that could convert any non-night owl. Since opening in 2016, this boundary-blurring spot has established itself as a staple of the city’s nightlife scene with exciting and eclectic events, including roller-disco parties, deep house yoga and performances by aerialists, magicians and more. All you have to do is say yes.

Trans-Pecos

Situated in the former home of Silent Barn, Trans-Pecos is an all-ages show venue and community space on the increasingly buzzy Bushwick-Ridgewood border. Todd P, the pioneer of Brooklyn’s DIY scene, heads this popular spot, where weekday parties feature varied music and laid-back crowds.

Black Flamingo

A plant-based taqueria and discotheque, Black Flamingo isn’t your ordinary nightclub. Located in Brooklyn (where else?), this Miami-inspired spot is known as much for its pink flamingo cocktail stirrers as its sweat-inducing dance parties, soundtracked with house and techno beats curated by scene veterans. When you’ve finished flying high on the dance floor, make sure you refuel at Flamingo’s popular upstairs restaurant.

Bossa Nova Civic Club

The center of Bushwick’s thriving techno scene, Bossa Nova Civic Club has been a Brooklyn staple since opening in 2012. Located beneath the M line’s Central Avenue subway stop, this tropical-themed bar/club is anything but underground, with past performers having included industry giants such as Jamie xx, Heather Heart and Adam X.

Le Bain

Those willing to brave the long lines (and discerning doorman) at Le Bain will be rewarded with a club experience that’s anything but standard. Occupying the rooftop of Manhattan’s Standard Hotel, this coveted club features sweeping city vistas, made-to-order crepes, celebrity sightings and a dance floor equipped with a built-in hot tub.

Good Room

A club “built by music lovers for music lovers,” Greenpoint’s Good Room is the local’s best bet for catching underground – but never underwhelming – acts. Designed by nightlife notable Steve Lewis, the multi-room space features a chandelier made of ram horns, a smaller Bad Room housing the club’s vinyl collection and second DJ area, and a roomy dance floor, making for an ideal environment to enjoy performances by Studio 54 veteran Nicky Siano, local rapper Mykki Blanco and more.

Marquee New York

Renowned in the global clubbing landscape, Marquee New York is a nightlife fixture for New Yorkers with a taste for life’s finer things. Here, world-famous DJs, such as Steve Aoki and Michael Brun, perform for celebrity listeners, fashion-industry flocks and Manhattan merrymakers.

FREQ

Taking over the former digs of Space Ibiza, FREQ keeps the party going at this Hell’s Kitchen hotspot. Brought to you by Space co-owner Antonio Piacquadio, this big blowout features multiple dance floors, a 6am closing time and live performances from global DJs. In other words, it has everything you need for a good time.
After all that partying you’ll need somewhere to rest your head. Here’s our guide to the best hotels to book in downtown New York.
