The Kitchen Step, a neighborhood spot in the downtown Van Vorst section of Jersey City, is a fusion of market-inspired dishes, plus craft cocktails that change based on the season. At The Kitchen Step, Chef Ryan DePersion takes classic American cuisine and gives it a twist. With menu options such as zucchini fries with harissa mayo dipping sauce, a kale caesar salad with Beemster gouda, candied walnuts, mint, and barley, or the local vegetable cioppino, which includes stewed tomatoes, carrots, radish, beets and fried cilantro, customers have fresh options to choose from.

The restaurant is described as “the modern-day grandma’s kitchen,” and it serves David Trotta’s food at the retail store and through catering.
