Squeeze In

In 2003 the Young family purchased the Squeeze In — established in 1974 — in Truckee, CA. Today they’re the proud owners of three locations in Northern Nevada plus two in California, all featuring a fun and eclectic vibe. Specialising in American breakfast and lunch fare plus tasty bloody marys and mimosas, Squeeze In is known for its extensive menu and giant omelettes prepared in a variety of ways. Delicious options to note are the racy tracy, an omelette — featured on the TV show Throwdown with Bobby Flay — stuffed with mushrooms, bacon, jack cheese, and avocado and the zweifel with peanut butter, apple, bananas, and honey — a wacky omelette for the adventurous. Caring about the dietary needs of the customers, this diner also has vegan and gluten-free options. Don’t forget to leave your mark at Squeeze In by writing a message on the wall.

Great Full Gardens

Established in 2013, Great Full Gardens is a casual restaurant in the MidTown District featuring New American cuisine. This eatery truly caters to all foodies as it has a host of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and paleo options, plus meat lovers will be equally pleased with the choices. Great Full Gardens use only the best quality ingredients from local sources; you can’t get much more local than their own greenhouse! Delectable highlights include the vegan hash with organic potatoes, soyrizo, broccoli, spinach, and onion; a BLTA sandwich with applewood smoked bacon with roasted tomato aioli, avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted naan; and linguini and clams. They are also known for their Liège waffles and various soups, which are by Gino the Soup Man.

Harrah’s Steak House

Situated inside Harrah’s Casino, Harrah’s Steak House is a fine-dining establishment perfect for celebrating a special occasion. Included in the Fine Dining Hall of Fame — the first Northern Nevada restaurant to be so — this restaurant offers discerning diners a selection of succulent steaks, seafood, plus other exquisite fare. For a special treat try the chateaubriand for two served with béarnaise sauce, or the steak Diane, which is beef medallions flambéed tableside. A host of side dishes, including au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach, are also available. With an ambiance that exudes sophistication plus impeccable service, it is no surprise that this steakhouse is one of the best in Reno.

Old Granite Street Eatery

Old Granite Street Eatery is a casual restaurant located downtown specialising in American comfort cuisine in an inviting modern-rustic environment. Popular with the local crowd, this airy eatery features a rustic wooden bar perfect for grabbing a handcrafted libation, craft beer, or glass of wine before feasting upon cuisine made from fresh locally sourced ingredients. Offering seasonal menus, notable highlights include the wood-grilled ranch steak with Yukon potatoes, mustard, and mushrooms and the roasted vegetable eggs benedict with a variety of veggies, including mushrooms and zucchini, topped with a spicy hollandaise sauce — available for brunch during the weekend. For dessert, try the tempting butterscotch pudding with a chocolate graham cracker topped with whisky whipped cream and a lace cookie.

Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs

A family-owned and operated diner since 1999, Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs serves up comforting American breakfast and lunch seven days a week. Growing into a small chain over the years with four locations in Northern Nevada plus one in California, Peg’s — named ‘Best Breakfast in Reno’ for the past 12 years — attracts locals and tourists alike wanting to try a variety of hearty dishes. Featuring a host of eggs dishes, including eight eggs benedicts, pancakes, sandwiches, plus other tasty items, highlights include Chef George’s benedict with chorizo patties atop an English muffin with poached eggs and a spicy chipotle hollandaise and the Sierra omelette with spicy chicken, green chillies, jalapeños, jack cheese, and avocado. SouthCreek Pizza Co., located in south Reno, is a local business owned by the Madan family specialising in flavourful wood-fired pizza. In a warm and inviting environment, pizza lovers can feast upon some of the highest quality pizza made with ingredients from local and international sources, including flour from Naples. All the pizzas, including the fragrant spinaci with spinach, fresh mozzarella, gruyere, ricotta SarVecchio parmesan, garlic, black pepper, and sea salt, are handcrafted and cooked in a Stephano Ferrara brick oven also from Naples. Diners can enjoy their meals, which also include an array of salads and sandwiches, at one of the many tables, at the bar that overlooks the open kitchen, or weather permitting, on the lovely patio.

Süp

Opened in 2007 by husband and wife Christian and Kasey Christensen, Süp is a fast-casual eatery located in MidTown serving gourmet soups — there are several varieties each day — sandwiches, and salads. Guests can rest assured that they are receiving only the best food as everything is made-from-scratch, including the soup stocks, using quality ingredients, which are locally sourced when available. Serving lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, delicious soup options include broccoli cheddar, loaded baked potato, and tomato bisque to name a few.
