Las Vegas isn’t known as a commercial hub, as the city more often focuses on providing top-notch entertainment. However, the demand for locally made and locally grown produce continues to expand, which means the city now boasts a surprisingly extensive range of options.
Fresh fruit and vegetables may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Sin City, but the demand for local products continues to grow. Find out where to go when in need of the best markets in Las Vegas.
Downtown 3rd Farmers Market
Market
The Downtown 3rd Farmers Market is a humble yet hip market that caters to the foodies looking for fresh produce in Las Vegas. Located in what used to be a transportation hub, the market has been open to the public every Friday since opening in March 2012. While items for sale vary each week, they generally include clothing, honey, bath salts and fresh produce. Once you’re done shopping at the market, stop by other nearby points of interest such as The Mob Museum, Smith Center and Fremont Street Experience.
Las Vegas Farmers Market at Bruce Trent Park
Market
The Las Vegas Farmers Market is a local favorite to attend. Rod Huebert, a native of California, took over the market in 2017 and has since expanded it to include six other locations throughout the city, including the market at Bruce Trent Park. Find fresh produce, handmade lotions and oils, jewelry, clothing and more. There’s often live music playing during the market’s opening hours, providing entertainment for all ages.
Henderson Farmers Market
Market
Henderson Farmers Market has two locations. The Thursday market takes place in “old Henderson,” while the Friday market is down the street from Green Valley Ranch. The market’s selection tends to be smaller than that of other markets, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. With vendors from both Las Vegas and California, Henderson Farmers Market offers fresh produce, loose-leaf tea, roasted coffee and handcrafted items. The market also hosts multiple food trucks serving everything from Asian fusion to cheesy bites.
Gilcrease Orchard
Farmers' Market, American
The idea of a farm in the middle of the desert may sound like a mirage of sorts, but Gilcrease Orchard is the real thing. This 60-acre (24-hectare) farm has been operating since the early 1920s, providing fresh produce to the local community. The farm is famous for its apple cider and takes great pride in delivering a product that’s free from preservatives. Being a popular place, the farm tends to get very busy, so if you prefer to avoid big crowds, it’s better to go early.
