Enjoying Great Dining Experiences Off The Las Vegas Strip

Paul & Teresa Lowe

Amidst the bright lights, casinos and parties that help make Las Vegas famous, the city is also a place that features world-class, award-winning cuisine. Chefs from around the world come here to showcase their unique restaurant creations. We take a look at four of the tastiest spots found away from the glizty Las Vegas Strip.

Slow-roasted, succulent meats are found in many of the dishes at Braddah’s.

Braddah’s Island Style | Burritos, Bowls & Tacos

One place that’s a quick drive west of the Las Vegas Strip in the community of Warm Springs and worthy of a world class banner is Braddah’s Island Style. Perhaps the best description of the wonderful food served here is to say that it’s super flavorful but also simple. Using a combination of flavors from Hawaii, Southern California, northern Mexico and Las Vegas, the tastes are infused in a variety of dishes — meats, rice, veggies and fruit — that are sure to please many palates and put big smiles on faces.

One must try dish is the Kalua pork; this recipe is over-the-top wow. Also, the steak burrito with house salsa and dipping sauce is mouthwatering and oh so good. There are also fish dishes and combination meat and rice plates. For folks who don’t eat meat but crave truly robust flavorful foods, there are great vegan dishes served as well. Yes, guacamole is included at no extra charge.

The dishes at Braddah’s are bursting with a variety of incredible flavors.

Owner Christopher Campbell says he opened his restaurant to bring parts of the Hawaiian culture — his wife is from Hawaii — including its healthy foods, fruits and unique spices, to folks in Las Vegas who wanted something off of the beaten path of typical, casual dining.

Some of Campbell’s meats are slow roasted for several hours daily, giving them an indescribable taste and tenderness, which is evident in every meal that you choose to order. Be sure to also ask for the house special coconut bark; this dessert has won Las Vegas food taste awards two years in a row and will be an explosion of joy in your mouth.

Campbell is a third generation restaurateur and has proven, so far, that he knows great quality and flavorful foods. He knows how to present his creations in hearty portions, in a fast-casual dining setting and most of all, at affordable prices.

The folks who visit regularly say that from the moment you walk through the doors, there is a feeling of familiarity and comfort plus friendly servers who greet you. The regulars say Braddah’s Island Style restaurant is a true, unique culinary gem. Out-of-towners, of which there are plenty, say they can’t wait for expansion across the border to California and beyond. Until then, Christopher Campbell says, ‘Mahalo and show some toes.’

Triple George Grill

Located just north of the Las Vegas Strip in the downtown area, the Triple George Grill is a steakhouse heaven for fine cuisine lovers. From the moment you enter, you get a feeling of a nostalgic neighborhood eatery, as the servers, who are dressed in white shirts, dark vests and dark trousers, greet you with a big smile like they’ve known you for years and attend to your dining needs and pleasures.

Triple George features a classic steak menu along with out-of-this-world chicken — try the sherry cream sauce chicken pie — seafood and pasta dishes. As you wait for your entrée to arrive, you must sample the sourdough bread with the house special butter blend and a salad. If you’re someone who enjoys a great appetizer, the crab cakes are a delicious choice with a burst of intense flavors that envelope the crab itself.

A delicious steak, which will melt in your mouth, prepared by talented chefs is one great option.

As for steaks, the signature ribeye steak dish is incredibly savory. General Manager Case Cicchelli says the preparing of a steak dish is a delicate balance, and begins with a truly mindful chef who is skillful at selecting the finest meat and blending seasonings, including porcini and chili powder with a smidgen of garlic and pepper. The steaks, plus any of the other meals served, will melt in your mouth. The wines and drinks served by the mixologists are plentiful, tasty and refreshing.

Mouthwatering seafood dishes are another great choice.

Keep in mind this is a gathering place, a restaurant with live music, so you shouldn’t expect whisper quiet or a private, intimate setting. Triple George is a whole lot of fun, and the food is exquisite. Guests at a neighboring table just might strike up a conversation with you and share a drink, and that’s kind of cool.
