Bali’s brilliant sea scenes, stunning beaches, and endless waves create the perfect atmosphere for the water sports industry to be born, grow, and thrive. Nothing completes your island adventure more than some daring water sports. Discover the best spots for water sports in Bali in our list below.

1. Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoa is the primary spot for water sports in Bali, stretching more than five kilometers long. As a mainstream destination, the location is packed with quality vendors, offering various services with competing prices. Tanjung Benoa is the place to go experience the usual water sports, like banana boat or flying fish, and also to try the extreme and innovative ones, such as flyboarding and scuba diving. Tourists can also enjoy other marine activities such as sea walking, a mangrove tour, and an island tour.

2. Sanur

Located in the southeast of Bali, Sanur beach is strategically situated near the city centers and other attractions, making it a popular destination among surfers and beach-goers. That popularity spurs the birth of many new innovative water sports in that area, including kitesurfing. Like the name suggests, kitesurfing is the activity (or attempt) of riding the waves not just with your surfboard, but also with a kite. That water sport is particularly in demand in Sanur, especially for beginners, because of the relatively calm break and consistent wind. Other sports like flying fish, banana, and donut boat, are also available on site.

3. Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is lined up with Bali’s most beautiful and luxurious hotels and resorts, most of which provide guests with various water sport activities. Even for tourists staying somewhere else, the beaches of Nusa Dua are as well-developed as the properties in the area, ensuring tourists a wonderful adventure with ample facilities. It’s not hard to find water sport vendors in Nusa Dua—all you have to do is show up and they will approach you with offers of banana boating, donut boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, and even the more extreme ones, like flying fish and parasailing.

Many tourists visit Pandawa Beach for its beauty alone: the smooth white sand and brilliant shades of blue. But the beach has more to offer, including water sports, such as canoeing. Once dubbed as a secret beach, the beach is now almost always packed with local and international tourists. Pandawa Beach is also furnished with big umbrellas and day beds, making it a perfect spot to chill and thrill in Bali. After a fun day of swimming and canoeing, tourists can get a traditional Balinese massage for an affordable price.

Ubud

Yes, Ubud, the cultural highlands in the middle of the island. More than the excellent coastlines and oceans, Bali also holds many impressive rivers which provide the means for adventurous rafting experiences. Ayung River is among the most popular spots for rafting in Ubud. While rafting, tourists are presented with magnificent views of jungles, waterfalls, and wildlife. Monkeys often make an appearance, playfully hopping from trees to trees. Tourists can choose whether to indulge on a gentle raft or a more adventerous one, and the organizers will plan the activity accordingly.
