Having just celebrated the Day of the Girl, it’s now time to recognize some truly remarkable women. Although Silicon Valley has its fair share of start-ups, Chicago is also home to some boss ladies who are changing the game one idea at a time.

Lisa Nation

Ever wished that there was an app through which you can request an in-home hair and/or makeup artist? There is! Lisa Nation created the LISA app for beauty services in a jiffy at home or in a salon. With 30 years in the beauty industry, Nation is the perfect person to create this app that many Chicagoans swear by. She’s an all-around winner and still maintains a book of 150 clients while raising three boys.

Krista Goral

Walking into a run-of-the-mill department store and not being able to find something that fits just right is not a good feeling. Enter Krista Goral, founder of MeasureMake, which provides custom dresses for every style, so it’s sure to fit perfectly. Goral is the fairy godmother of Chicago’s most fashionable women, taking them from drab to fab in no time flat.

Vanessa J. Cutler

Vanessa J. Cutler already had an impressive résumé before she co-founded Emotilink. The medical doctor has an immense passion for medical technologies that provide solutions to emerging issues in the medical industry, and in turn created Emotilink, the perfect amalgamation of the two. The app links mental health professionals with users so they can get the care they need quickly and efficiently.

Katie Schuppler
