The building is an intricate piece of work in itself, with a beautifully restored Spanish Mediterranean façade dating back to 1924. A charming, modern take on the southern boarding house, Wylie makes the most of its lively history. Located in the Old Fourth Ward, near Dr King’s birthplace, the hotel’s building was formerly 551 Ponce De Leon, home of America’s first drag-show bar. Now fully modernized in a warm retro style, complete with wood-paneled walls and globe lighting, it feels authentic, cosy and on point. Don’t miss brunch at Mrs P’s Dining Room: low-key southern fare at its best.

As homely and cutesy as its name suggests, Sugar Magnolia feels more like a family home than a hotel. Choose from one of four themed suites, depending if you’d rather have a four poster bed or access to the private roof deck, and enjoy a hearty breakfast with lashings of Southern hospitality with your hosts each morning. The surrounding Inman Park neighborhood is another major plus: it’s known for its food scene and markets.

This hotel is part of the Curio collection, a group of independent four- and five-star hotels curated by Hilton for their unique characters. The Candler’s main draw is its incredible building, which was constructed by Coca Cola magnate Asa Griggs Candler at the turn of the 20th century and is filled with graphic monochrome tiling, huge chandeliers and highly decorative plasterwork. Its restoration has been thoughtful, creating a Downtown hotel that feels clean, modern and more than fit for purpose.
