Things to Do at Night in Denver

Set in a traditional adobe building, this restaurant harks back to Denver’s Wild West heritage with specialty menu items featuring cowboy fare – including quail, bison, Rocky Mountain oysters (a rather extravagant euphemism for fried bull’s testicles), and even gunpowder-infused cocktails. It’s a nice spot for a novel date, but the prices get steep pretty quickly. This grill room also tends to book up well in advance, so make a reservation. You can catch a show at Comedy Works most nights of the week – but the weekend is when you can laugh at the big headliners. (The basement is a great spot to see up-and-comers in an intimate space.) You can really put on the ritz here, which is to say, book a luxe VIP experience and be seated in the first six rows for a big-time comedian. But keep an eye out for special promotions to snag a great deal. There are quite a few eateries in Denver under the ViewHouse banner – but Ballpark takes the cake. This rooftop bar and grill serves up locavore comfort grub, craft beers and wine. It’s a lively venue during televised sports events, but particularly Rockies baseball, as it’s right across the street from the stadium. Enjoy some carb-laden delights on an expansive patio a stone’s throw from the action. And to prevent your pockets from aching, aim to arrive during happy hour to order some suds on sale. There’s nothing little about Denver locals’ affection for this creamery. The desert wizards here whip up fresh ice cream and sorbets – every single day. Plus, to put you in the mood, the building is designed as a mammoth-sized milk jug. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating, handy if you’re rolling with a big group. On the weekend, the line gets long, but it’s worth the wait. Little Man also caters to most dietary requirements, and the menu includes options for those with lactose, nut and gluten allergies. The Buell Theatre, part of the Denver Center for Performing Arts, hosts many high-profile, traveling Broadway shows, musicals, dramatic plays and comedy acts.
