When it’s hot outside, you can’t beat heading to a water park to cool off. With Fresno temperatures often soaring during the summer months, these slides, wave pools and rapids are the most fun way to stay refreshed and relaxed. Here are the best water parks in Fresno.

1. Island Waterpark

Amusement Park

With more than 20 rides on 42 acres (17ha) of land, everyone from toddlers to thrill-seeking adults will love it here. Attractions include the Thrills of Fiji, where you whoosh down a tower, to ‘Ohana Bay, featuring three slides. Clean and safe, the many lockers, life jackets, lifeguards and food and drink options at Island Waterpark make it an ideal family choice. Grab an inner tube and float the sweltering day away in this easily accessible water park.

2. Blackbeard’s Family Entertainment Center

Blackbeard’s has it all. Multiple water slides mean there are lots of opportunities for old-fashioned mat-based fun. Entrance to the park is free, meaning that you’ll only pay for the rides that you take – good news if not everyone in your party loves the water. As well as plenty of water slides, Blackbeard’s Family Entertainment Center also has 18 holes of miniature golf, a ropes area, two go-kart tracks, laser tag, video games and claw machines. The 5,000-capacity picnic area is also worth a stop – no matter how large your group is, there’ll be space.

3. Wild Water Adventure Park

This exceptionally popular park sees 250,000 visitors a year come to enjoy the 52 acres (21ha) of beautiful land where you can picnic, barbecue and fish as well as enjoy 38 fun water slides and 20 thrill rides that will splash you hard and cool you down. There are wave pools, a special kid’s area, sports fields – everything you could want from a relaxing outdoor park dedicated to enjoyment. Family-owned and managed, and open for more than 45 years, you’re guaranteed a good time at Wild Water Adventure Park.

4. Raging Waters Sacramento

Amusement Park

Ok, so this water park isn’t technically in Fresno – but it’s well worth the trip to Sacramento to go there. Open since 1986 and located in the Cal Expo, home of the CA State Fair, it’s Sacramento’s largest water park and offers something for everyone. Attractions include a lazy river, cliffhanger speed slides, a shark-attack-themed waterslide, a wave pool and much more. Plenty of food is available on site, so you can stay all day to enjoy the cool water in the heat of the Californian summer.

5. Todd Beamer Park

Located in the heart of Fresno, this kid-friendly splash park is a free and easy way to love the hot summer sun. Free to access and enjoy, we’re sure the kids won’t mind you joining in their fun. Shoot water spouts, buckets of water that pour on top of people, water-shooting archways and spinning water disks combine to make Todd Beamer park a must-visit water park in Fresno.

6. Figarden Loop Park

Another free-to-access park near the center of the city of Fresno, Figarden Loop Park is a great choice thanks to the many shady areas in the park where you can escape from the sun beating down in those hot summer months. With water spouts that shoot out of the ground and buckets that fill with water and spill when you least expect them to, this park provides a relaxed, convenient option to put on your bathing suit and make the most of the weather.
