Grab your hiking boots, pack a picnic, and make your way to the North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve. Just 72 miles (116km) north of Sacramento, this 3,330-acre (1,347ha) wilderness is home to two mesas (flat-topped hills), North Table Mountain and South Table Mountain. It’s a popular region for hikers, who flock here in the spring to enjoy the radiant wildflower meadows. Here are Culture Trip’s pick of the top hotels to call home while you’re exploring.
