Kick off the adventure in Anchorage, the biggest city in Alaska. Meet your group and leader at 6pm with a welcome meeting, after which you could get to know each other better with a meal in town.

After breakfast, jump in a private van for a road trip to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. You’ll take the Seward Highway, a particularly scenic route, with chances to stop for photos. At the center, learn more about Alasakan wildlife and how they are cared for. Return to Anchorage in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, visit the largest glacier in Alaska, the 27mi (43km) long Matanuska Glacier. Enjoy icy views, then head to the toe of the glacier for lunch at a local restaurant. Tonight, you’ll stay in a lodge at Sheep Mountain. There’s little light pollution here, providing the ideal conditions for seeing the Northern Lights.

Today is yours to explore as you wish. You might want to try the state sport – dog sledding (or dog mushing as it’s known here). In the evening, head out in search of the Northern Lights. There’ll be a tent and heater on hand to warm up between sky watching.

Fuel up with breakfast, today’s going to be busy. First, enjoy a two-hour snowshoeing adventure along scenic trails (or a hike if there’s not much snow) in Denali National Park. Then, after lunch, visit the Denali Visitor Center and the Murie Science and Learning Center to learn more about nature here. In the evening, head to the hotel for a group dinner and to hear tales from the day.

Today is Christmas! Well, kind of. Because, after breakfast, we’re off to the North Pole to visit the house of Santa Clause, home to lots of festive decorations and toys. After, soak in the geothermal waters at Chena Hot Springs. Cool back down with a visit to the Aurora Ice Museum, built from more than 1,000 tons of ice and snow.

This morning, head to a local reindeer farm to marvel at the animals and learn more from an Alaskan native. You’ll take an hour-long trek with a herd, before sheltering inside for a talk with homemade cookies and drinks. Return to Fairbanks after, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish with a final Northern Lights viewing at night.

The adventure, sadly, comes to an end after breakfast. There are no activities planned for today, so you can leave when you wish.
