Bazar Fusion

Bazar Fusion started as a monthly shopping fair, where designers purchased individual stands or tables and sold jewelry, clothing, shoes, handbags, and more. Now the bazaar has a permanent location in Colonia Juarez with some really great established mini-shops open all week long. The monthly fairs are still happening and now usually have a theme, like “green” or “recycled furniture.” You can follow them on Facebook for all the updates of when the next event is happening, or just stop by the store and check out the amazing designers that have spaces there.

This high-end shop in Polanco sells mostly shoes and clothing and works to promote Latino fashion and designers throughout the world. Therefore you will find Brazilian and Argentine design along with local creators. Everything about the store has been carefully thought out and created for the ultimate shopping experience, down to the material of its furniture and the way that items are displayed around the shop.

The Happening

Dedicated to showcasing Mexican designers and craftsmen, The Happening‘s two locations feature almost 80 percent of their products Hecho en Mexico (Made in Mexico). Pottery, kids’ clothing, artwork, jewelry, shoes, and more are displayed so artfully that even if you come in with no intention to buy you will be extremely tempted to pick something up. The Happening Roma location is slightly bigger than their space in San Angel, and with only a few months in business is already a hit in the neighborhood.

Tráfico Bazar

This is a once-a-month fair in Colonia Roma that features young, local designers making everything from aprons to artwork to apple pie. It’s a great place to get a feel for the new, chic, and hip in Mexico City. This monthly bazaar was created as far back as 2009, and is one of the most popular of its forms in the area. There is always good food to be had and usually over 100 different vendors to browse among. Each month it’s held at the Centro Gallego in Roma—a beautiful atmosphere for beautiful items.

180º Shop

This shop has a selection of books, clothing, skateboards, and tennis shoes, with a streetwise vibe and hipster chic. You can find artsy guidebooks to the city, bicycles, and cool gifts for all styles. The 180º Shop isn’t 100 percent Mexican designers like some of the others on this list, but a large part of their inventory is local and Mexican made.

The Clothing Room

This project combines several businesses, a showroom for consigned pieces from distinct brands, a fashion production and coordination service for publicity campaigns, fashion shows, clothing rental, and design and public relations services for the brands that they have in their showroom. While the three founders, Nayeli de Alba, Benjamin Larroque and Tino Portillo, have designers from all over the world in their store, they are partial to Mexican designers. Whether you want a piece to add to your permanent collection or just a dress rental for a big event, this is your place.

Tenderete

A tiny place tucked into a basement-level shop in Roma, Tenderete has a lovely selection of silver jewelry, handpainted t-shirts, stuffed animals, hand-drawn journals and more. They have some odd hours, so check ahead before you go, but we promise it will be worth the trip. Through their Facebook page they do giveaways and host events and auctions of local designer goods.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
