Here are some independent bookstores where you can find a bit of everything.
The Profetica Casa de la Lectura (House of Reading) was a colonial gem in a state of almost complete ruin until it was rescued and renovated by architect Gonzalo Goméz Palacio. Now it’s considered one of the most impressive bookstores in the city. You’ll find an expansive range of books, a courtyard with ferry lights and exposed brick, and a cafe with numerous treats. The Casa also hosts author readings, book signings, and other literary events.
For the past fifty years, Librería Leon has invited readers to discover and interact with the books on their shelves. The store hosts book presentations, book festivals, and author readings and signings on a regular basis.
