This gallery is a unique experience in Cancun. Here, you can appreciate the work of talented Mexican artists by appointment only. In addition to the art exhibition, Mädi México & Difusión Cultural F & H supports artists from Mexico and overseas in their production of paintings, graphics, and sculptures, either in their workspaces or through artistic residencies. Their goal is to support emerging Mexican talents until they can turn their art into a means of supporting themselves: from the beginning of their creations to the promotion of their work through books, catalogs, videos, and exhibitions.

This gallery showcases original contemporary art by diverse artists from Cancun and from other Caribbean countries. Balance Cancun is located in a shopping center called El Caracol, in Kukulcan Bourlevard in the hotel zone. It’s an ideal place to stop by during a shopping afternoon or while you are sightseeing around Cancun. If you are passionate about art, this is the perfect place for you; here you’ll see the diverse stories of Latin America told in original works by different artists, in pieces of painting, photography, sculpture, and decorative articles.

2. La Madeja de las Ideas

Located in Luna Avenue, La Madeja de las Ideas is both a training center in plastic arts and a gallery focussing on the creation of high-quality plastic work. For the last eight years, this gallery has trained high-level plastic artists in techniques that make it possible for everybody to create works of art. As a result of this work, La Madeja has created a strong group of artists in Cancun, who display their artwork in this gallery and in Mexico City. In addition they have an online radio show called XHTGTU.

SHOWroomcancun

SHOWroomcancun is a prestigious clothing store that displays artwork from local and international artists. For two days each month, the store turns into an art gallery, displaying paintings, photos, sculpture and art objects. Artists, the press, and the general public all converge here to appreciate the arts. The place is an initiative of the Mexican fashion designer Ernesto Hernández, whose passion has led him to open a cosmopolitan space for art and design. On its top floor there is a room where workshops in fashion, design, and plastic arts are on offer, taught by experts from Cancun and Mexico City.

3. Museo Subacuático de Arte

MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte), is an underwater art museum located at the bottom of the crystal waters of Cancun. There are more than 500 statues by important artists from Mexico, Europe, and the USA. This underwater gallery has three permanent exhibitions: at Punta Nizuc, which has 20 artworks located at the southern tip of Cancun; Punta Sam, which is surrounded by marine grass, a place that sea turtles often come to feed; and Manchones, where more than 400 pieces are located in the waters between Isla Mujeres and Cancun, and are visited by angel fish, lobsters, and turtles. You can see these dazzling exhibitions by snorkeling, scuba diving, or taking a submarine boat.

5. La Pitahaya

This is a cozy gallery and cultural center with a local touch. La Pitaya displays local artwork in pleasant surroundings, and also serves as a meeting point for local artists, intellectuals, and the public. This is a haven where people can come to meet new friends who share the same interests. La Pitahaya offers poetry readings, musical rehearsals, and movie projections, and there’s also a cafe with books in case you want to read. There are also workshops in drawing, sculpture, and painting, given by the artists who are on display here.
