Mexico City’s Coyoacan neighborhood has its own distinct ambiance entirely unlike anything else in town. The mood is provincial and relaxed, the main square always abuzz with the activity of balloon sellers and snack vendors. The former home of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Leon Trotsky and many more important figures in Mexico City history, it’s not a place you want to miss on your tour of the country’s capital. Stara San Angel Inn, located in the oh-so-quaint San Angel neighborhood, is a modern and shiny contrast to the surrounding area’s traditional cobblestoned streets. The rooms, with high-end Nordic minimalistic design touches (lots of wood and marble), feature big windows and narrow verandas overlooking the residential area. This delightful property is located just steps from the center of Coyoacan making visiting some of the neighborhood’s attractions like the Frida Kahlo Museum or the Coyoacan Viveros any easy jaunt. Perks include free Wi-Fi, a common area for watching TV and outdoor patio space for enjoying the mild year-round climate of Mexico City. This house certainly feels like a home away from home.

From the front door, it’s a short walk to the Frida Kahlo Museum and only a little bit further to the center of Coyoacan. Nearby there are plenty of food options and a shopping mall for a little retail therapy.

These properties cater to domestic business travelers but they are also great for someone who is coming into town for a few days and wants a no-frills but high-quality stay in the city. As a brand, they are extremely environmentally conscious and have received LEED certifications for many of their hotels. This Mexico City outpost is located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Xoco and has a great rooftop terrace for travelers to take advantage of.
