Recently, the 4th Envision Festival took place in Rancho La Merced in Uvita, Costa Rica. This is more than just a music festival. The mission of Envision is to provide a space for cultural, spiritual, environmental, and health awakenings; a place where people from all different cultures, ideologies, and backgrounds can come together to connect and learn from one another, while having an outrageously fun time.

Location

Envision is located in Uvita and just a 2-minute walk to the Playa Hermosa – which is also an amazing surf break – in the southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. This is a place where lush jungle meets pristine coastline. The jungle is rich with flora and fauna and the ocean is warm and cleansing. The location really couldn’t be any better.

Playa Hermosa is truly a beautiful beach

Accommodations

There are a variety of accommodation options. It really just depends on what type of experience you want to have and what type of accommodations you are most comfortable with physically and financially. However, it is highly recommended that you stay within the camp grounds in order to immerse yourself the full Envision experience. Festival goers can choose to bring their own camping gear and set up their own spot or there are several different other camping and bungalow options, such as the treehouse suites. There are also three different off-site options that Envision has partnered up with for the festival period.

8 pillars of Envision

Envision is based on 8 pillars: permaculture, spirituality, movement, art, music, community, health, and eco building. Within these pillars the focus in on reforestation, resource management, meditation, nature, consciousness, dance, yoga, celebration, sound healing, diversity, family, collaboration, nutrition, herbal medicine, ethical labor sourcing, minimal impact, and renewable resources, just to name a few.

Diversity and acceptance

Music

A major component of Envision is the music. Music has the power to get people moving, connect people with one another, and to fill the environment with positive, shared energy. The music scene is very eclectic and offers something for everyone. Expect no shortage of dance music. This past year, performers such as Rising Appalachia, Opiuo, Papadosio, and Goldfish headlined, along with dozens of other other acts.

Yoga

With over 30 yoga instructors, Envision is an excellent place to reconnect with your practice or try yoga for the first time. There is something very special about practicing yoga outside, especially in such a beautiful setting. There are all different types of yoga offered at Envision and the classes are open to everyone. There are two yoga and movement temples where yoga, sacred movement, and dance classes are offered all day long.

Workshops and other activities

Envision is also a place to learn and grow. There are a great deal of influential and knowledgeable keynote speakers who come to Envision to share what they are passionate about, with interested festival goers. There are spoken workshops on permaculture, primitive skills development, and herbal medicine, along with many more topics. The goal is to inspire new ways of thriving and thinking on this planet while also taking great care of it and each other.

Food

Envision is a “reusable only event”. Festival goers interested in eating from any of the vendors will pay a one time fee to rent dishes for the weekend. There are all sorts of exquisite vendors to choose from that offer locally inspired cuisine and international dishes. The variety of food and drink options are actually incredible. Festival goers can rest assured that there are plenty of healthy options to keep them fueled, healthy, and full of energy for the entirety of the festival.

Endless food options

Family and children friendly

Envision is for everyone. The idea is to put forth the resources and space to create a little utopia in the midst of the jungle and beach for all to enjoy and participate in. For this reason, this is a family and child-friendly oasis. There is a special campground designated for families with children and also a wide range of child-friendly activities, such as playshops and art workshops. Envision is for the child and the child in all of us.
