In Havana, tours provided by local guides are still very popular. With an increase in visitors to Cuba the last few years, a variety of tour packages have emerged to help make the best of a vacation to the charming city.

RutaBikes

Cycling is an excellent, healthy way to explore a city. RutaBikes has five years of experience helping tourists discover Havana on wheels. In addition to bike rentals, they offer three daily tours: the Classic City Tour, the Bay City Tour (both starting at 8 a.m.), and the Sunset City Tour (starting at 3 p.m). Tours last up to five and a half hours and are led by English-speaking guides. Prices range from $30 to $40, with discounts for students and children.

NosotrosCubaneamos

NosotrosCubaneamos offers tours tailored to meet the visitors’ time availability. The main options are a short tour of the city starting at 5:00 p.m., and an eight-hour tour starting at 9:30 a.m. Prices start at around $25. Prices can get as low as $15 per person in groups of five people or more. Tours are free for children under the age of 15. NosotrosCubaneamos mostly provides walking tours of the city but covers longer distances by car. Travelers who like NosotrosCubaneamos’ Facebook page have the opportunity to win a free tour.

Havana Memories

Founded and operated by a former theoretical physics teacher named Roly, Havana Memories is a small business specializing in custom-made tours of Havana and Matanzas. To see all the sights in the city, Havana Memories recommends a two-day tour. Tours last from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The website includes additional information about the tours, plus a section devoted to poetry about quantum physics.

Cuba History Trip

Cuba History Trip provides tours about the history of Havana and the history of its cars used to transport the clients. The company owns a fleet of five vintage American cars, including a Ford Thunderbird 1959 Convertible whose last owner was renowned mobster Mayer Lansky and a rare Lincoln Capri, one of only 2350 models. Seven tour programs are available, with the option to make adjustments according to clients’ needs. One of the main attractions in their offer is the chance to drive one of their classic cars for 20 minutes along the Malecón, the popular 8km-long avenue by the sea.

Havana Journeys

Havana Journeys is a group of chauffeur guides providing tours of Havana in well-preserved classic American cars. Tours must be booked in advance via email or phone, with itineraries for U.S. visitors designed to comply with “educational and research purposes” as well as “people to people” interaction. The standard tour lasts from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. but they also offer the option to adapt the visit to clients’ needs.

Old Car Tours

Old Car Tours has a large fleet that includes Chevrolet, Ford, Buick, Cadillac, Mercury, Dodge, Oldsmobile and Pontiac mobiles. Each car takes a maximum of five people, including the driver, and tour guides should be booked separately. Prices vary based on the duration of the tour and type of car selected. Old Car Tours hits the main city sights as well as tourist attractions outside Havana, including Varadero and Cayo Santa María.

Run by interpreter Fernando Horta, Fertours offers a variety of city tours, including the Havana Premium Tour, Havana Highlights, Barefoot Havana, and Shipwrecked in Havana (targeting visitors visiting Havana with a cruise trip). Group tours also include popular sights in Havana like the National Hotel, the Christ of Havana, the Capitol Building, and Revolution Square. Prices vary.
