From red-sand beaches to the red fields that supply one-third of Canada’s potatoes, Prince Edward Island is a busy little destination full of history, also famous for a red-headed girl called Anne of Green Gables. You’ll find that the smallest province in Canada has a big heart, which means you’ll receive a warm welcome at the best hotels on Prince Edward Island.

A local landmark since 1895, the Dalvay is a testament to Edwardian workmanship. Honey-colored herringbone pine fills every room from floor to ceiling, while a magnificent maple staircase and balcony surround the lobby. The 25 rooms have views of Lake Dalvay or the expansive grounds. The wood-paneled three-bedroom cottages have lofts, some with four-poster beds, cozy cast-iron stoves and views of Dalvay Bay on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.

If you’re a fan of lace, gingham and leaded glass, you’ll love Eden Hall. Each of the 10 rooms in this 1897 Queen Anne manse with turrets and a colonnaded porch has a unique layout, many with views of Charlottetown Harbour. Furnishings are cushy reproductions for the most part, with added amenities such as mini-fridges and chandeliers. Close to the restaurants and shops of Victoria Row, but far enough for a quiet night’s rest, Eden Hall is one of the most romantic bed and breakfasts in the city.

The suites vary widely in size and configuration, but all are modern where it matters. Some have new walk-in rainfall showers or stainless-steel kitchen appliances. Take advantage of a superior breakfast menu. Sir Paul McCartney enjoyed the vegetarian options when he stayed here.

There are four rooms in this Victorian charmer, as well as a loft with a kitchen and a private balcony. Baskets of fresh fruit and baked goods are free for the taking all day. Hop on a bicycle, and pedal to downtown or the boardwalk in minutes.

There’s plenty of room to play at Rodd Crowbush, even if you don’t know a sand trap from a sand dune. Located in Crowbush Cove Provincial Park, the clubhouse at the Links golf course reputedly has the best seafood chowder on the island. The resort has 49 rooms and suites and 32 two-story cottages with kitchens and screened porches. Don’t miss the bonfire on the beach every evening. It’s a 10-minute walk – unless you ask the bellman for a lift in a golf cart.

There are rooms to suit every taste and budget. Romantic Hideaway rooms have fireplaces and double Jacuzzis; suites add a kitchen and dining room. Walls in pastel hues, velvet curtains and leather furnishings are found throughout, with added touches such as balconies, skylights and columns in some of these unique lodgings.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
