Tel Aviv, Israel is home to such an incredible array of cuisines, deciding where to get the best of something is often an exercise in frustration. If you’re craving a hamburger, here are the tastiest options.

Vitrina, Ibn Gvirol

Restaurant, Israeli

Most locals and visitors already know about Vitrina. But for the uninformed, Vitrina had elevated the hamburger back to gourmet status with its flavorful burger, topped with arugula and homemade beetroot ketchup. Nothing is overlooked at this burger stand from the proper-sized lightly toasted bun, to the plates slightly decorated with condiments. Voted one of the top spots year after year, Vitrina even brags about having the best fries in Tel Aviv. These are a delightful combination of regular and sweet potato fries topped with herbs and spices and lemon zest. If that does not awaken your tastebuds do not fret – as well as having some of the best burgers in the city, Vitrina also 14 varieties of outstanding sausages. Some might say they could even rival the burgers.

Located in the Farmer’s Market at the Tel Aviv Port (Namal Tel Aviv) this little known non-nonsense burger counter is king. The dining experience is utterly simplistic but incredibly satisfying. Like Vitrina, this burger counter has minimal seating, with a frenetic pace behind and in front of the counter. Delicious Deli Baris your no-frill destination for the perfect burger spot. It evokes the spirit of small-town American diners of the 70s. If you are lucky, you may get a seat at the counter, beside the classic red ketchup squeeze bottle and the cheap metallic napkin dispenser. There you will witness the sizzling grill cook up these mouthwatering patties. Enjoy the burger with lightly spiced potato wedges that will make you nostalgic of your mother’s homemade cooking. Your friends will thank you, and your stomach too will love it.

Brasserie, Tel Aviv-Yafo

Brasserie, Restaurant, Bistro, French

Often described as the crown-jewel of restaurants in Tel Aviv, Brasserie’s reputation is well deserved. This Tel Aviv landmark restaurant has garnered a loyal following because the owners, the R2M group, deliver authentic French cuisine, with exceptional white-table cloth service. This is all inside a beautifully art-deco designed atmosphere. So it should be of no surprise that their burger is often cited as ‘one of the best’ or ‘the best’ in Tel Aviv. Brasserie has plenty to offer, burgers aside, so it makes the perfect place for large groups to enjoy a meal. The fact that Brasserie is open 24 hours gives you one more reason, if you needed it, to make this your final dining destination.
