A Workout for Every Day of the Week In Tel Aviv
Tel Avivians are known for being healthy, active people. Here are our picks for the top 7 Tel Aviv workouts, one for every day of the week.
Sunday: Run down the Tel Aviv Promenade
A run down the Tel Aviv Promenade (in Hebrew: tayelet) is most recommended either early in the morning (prior to 8 am), or around sunset, to avoid both the heat and the crowd.
Whether you are just starting out as a runner or are training for a marathon, the Tel Aviv promenade is definitely the ideal place to run. It offers a completely flat running surface, and it is extremely versatile, as it goes through Yaffo all the way to Herzliya, which will guarantee a new personal record and keep your mind excited with the diverse beaches. It is the perfect way to enjoy the spectacular Tel Aviv beach scene without the struggle of having to run on the sand. All the other runners and fit Tel Avivians will keep you motivated, as they often give each other thumbs up, a smile, or a nod of approval. Bikers, roller bladders, and couples on romantic walks will also keep you entertained on your run.
A run down the promenade is not only a great workout, but also the best way to really appreciate the natural beauty that Tel Aviv has to offer.
Monday: Work Out in an Outdoor Gym
Who said playgrounds are only for children? There are tons of what can be called ‘’adult playgrounds’’ throughout Tel Aviv, for those that like to both work and play. These outdoor gyms are mostly located along the beach and can be found in practically every park. This is the ultimate gym experience, as it’s free and has no membership required.
You get to enjoy the outdoors while working out, and do not have to suffer through the stuffiness of a crowded indoor gym. Even in the heat of the middle of the day, many of these playgrounds have a shaded cover.
Tuesday: Set up a TRX, anywhere
Buying a TRX is probably one of the best investments you can make. It is a one-time fee, and you can take it with you anywhere and attach it to literally anything, even a tree. It is a great way to mix up your workout scenery and really experience the different vibes of Tel Aviv, from the beach, to Park Hayarkon, to Rothschild Boulevard, to even the comfort of your own home. There are plenty of experienced personal trainers that will give you a killer session, or if you are on a budget, you can even watch some Youtube videos for inspiration.
Wednesday: Volleyball at the Beach
This is another great and free workout option. Especially at the Tel Aviv beach, you really only need yourself and some energy. The warm and welcoming Israelis will surely invite you into their game, regardless of your skill level. Not only will you leave with that great feeling after playing a sport, but you will also probably make some new friends along the way, maybe even a date for the weekend. Get ready for an amazing tan, as well!
Thursday: Practice Yoga
There are tons of yoga studios throughout Tel Aviv, depending on what style you prefer and where you’re living. With such a wide array of choices, you are bound to find the perfect match for your needs.
For those of you with busy and unpredictable schedules, and who do not want to commit to a membership, Rega –Your Urban Break offers different classes throughout the week that are pay-as-you-go. Prices are reasonable, with most of the classes ranging from 30-45 shekels. Their yoga classes at the Tel Aviv marina during sunset offer an unreal experience.

Friday: Pick-up Basketball at Park HaYarkon
Similar to volleyball at the beach, a pick up basketball game at the park is another free and wonderful way to meet some new, awesome people. The courts at Park HaYarkon, located right next to the Tel Aviv Sportech are always full of energetic and talented basketball players just looking to have a fun and friendly game. And if you are not too dead after, it is located right next to one of the outdoor gyms.
Saturday: Try Out a Gym
Although there are many free and outdoor options of places to work out in Tel Aviv, there really is nothing like a gym to get you pumped up and keep you motivated. There are several reasonably priced gyms throughout Tel Aviv to choose from.
One of the popular Tel Aviv gyms, Pure, located in central Tel Aviv at Ben Yehuda 77 (between Frishman and Gordon) is great for their unique energetic and friendly vibe. They offer every class you can possibly imagine, including various types of yoga, pilates, spinning, functional training, zumba and even a running group. If you prefer to work out alone, their underground gym has all the weights and cardio machines, with great music and beautiful people to keep you coming back.
