A vibrant student city, Swansea, in South Wales, has some really excellent choices for vegans or vegetarians. This small, quirky and lively city is full of real culinary surprises. Whatever your preference – be it spicy, British, Mediterranean or even fine dining – Swansea has a restaurant just waiting for you. Here are our five favourites.

1. Govinda's

Cafe, Restaurant, European, Indian, Fusion, Vegetarian, Vegan

Govinda’s vegan and vegetarian café takes inspiration from Indian, Mediterranean and British recipes. The menu is packed full of veggie friendly dishes, whether you’re looking for cheesy chips, fragrant bowls of Indian Dahl or a healthy hummus wrap, Govinda’s will not disappoint.

2. Hanson at The Chelsea

Restaurant, Contemporary, Vegan, Vegetarian, European, British

This Michelin Guide recommended restaurant offers fine dining for vegans and vegetarians. Owned by Ritz trained chef Andrew Hanson the menus are full of big flavours and classic combinations. The city centre location makes it a very convenient destination to enjoy a leisurely lunch or fabulous dinner.

3. Zinco Lounge

This small local chain of lounges caters well for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets. Whether you’re looking for a great place for brunch or a more substantial lunch, Zinco’s fusion menu’s are a great place to start. With their quirky decor, great cocktails and moreish puddings you’ll find yourself going back again and again.

5. Mosaic

Bar, Cocktail Bar, Tapas, Fusion, Gluten-free, Vegetarian, Vegan

Mosaic is a cool, buzzy tapas bar that caters extremely well for vegans and vegetarians. The food is fresh and the menu well put together. A whole section of the menu is dedicated to vegan dishes and there is plenty of tapas based around quorn, which makes a nice change from the usually cheese based offerings.
