Sitting on the west bank of the River Camel, close to Rock and Polzeath, Padstow has long been a holiday favourite for families and surfers alike. Close to the Eden Project and the famous South West Coast Path, it draws nature lovers as well as foodies, thanks to its thriving gastronomic scene. We’ve picked out the best hotels in Padstow to make finding that perfect holiday home away from home easier – they’re all bookable on Culture Trip.

1. Coswarth House

The 19th-century Coswarth House has plenty of beautiful period features, including flagstone floors, intricately carved fireplaces and exposed beams; it’s like stepping back in time. The antique-style furniture enhances the building’s heritage without sacrificing modern comforts. It’s only five minutes from the centre of Padstow and a short ferry ride across to neighbouring Rock. You can also head out for a day to Port Isaac or Tintagel.

Another historic hotel in Padstow, the Old Custom House enjoys views over the picture-perfect harbour. Each of the rooms features a calming, country style with light pastel tones and plenty of natural lighting.

The St Enodoc Hotel, across the estuary in Rock, feels like a sprawling countryside house that has been plucked and placed by the sea. Rooms are airy and chic, and some have views of the Camel Estuary. There are two dining options: the casual St Enodoc Brasserie, where local ingredients take centre stage, or Karrek, a fine-dining establishment that serves a nine-course tasting menu on the weekends throughout summer. The hotel has a pool for the days when you don’t want to make the walk to the estuary, and Paul Ainsworth’s pub the Mariners is just down the hill for one of the best lunches you’ll ever have.

5. St Moritz Hotel

With an enormous pool that you could easily sit by all day and two incredible beaches a short jaunt down the path, there are plenty of options for a dip in the summer. The hotel is also home to the only Cowshed Spa outside Soho House properties, offering treatments using its incredible, natural products.
