Bournville may be known to some as the home of Cadbury World but there’s more to this picturesque village than meets the eye. Here’s our rundown of some of the best things to do in Burnsville – including, of course, Cadbury World!

Cadbury World

This famous chocolate factory really needs no introduction, but we’ll give you one anyway! Built in the early 1900s by the Cadbury Brothers, this world-famous chocolatier is one of the largest international confectionary companies and is arguably Birmingham’s most notable export. Visitors to Birmingham should note that Bournville is just 15 minutes from Birmingham New Street via train, and tours of the factory are available to book seven days a week.

Selly Manor Museum

Just a few minute’s walk from Cadbury World is Selly Manor, a museum that offers further fantastic insight into the village of Bournville and its history. Originally located in the nearby Selly Oak, Selly Manor was saved from its derelict state by George Cadbury in the early 1900s and moved to Bournville to be a part of his model village. Now, the manor is a fully functioning museum that welcomes thousands of visitors and schools through its doors each year.

Rowheath Park and Pavillion

Just a short walk from Bournville train station is Rowheath Pavillion, a community hub at the heart of the village since 1924. This not-for-profit community centre hosts around 400 events a year, with anything from baby showers and weddings to quizzes and fireworks displays on show. Visitors should also take time to explore its park grounds and lake, especially in the summer months.

Bournville Garden Centre

This small garden centre is a hidden delight in the midst of Bournville. Whether you’re after some new plants or you fancy sitting down for afternoon tea, Bournville Garden Centre will be right up your street. Make sure you say hi to the resident cat, Socks.

Bournville Village Christmas Festival

The very first Bournville Village Christmas Festival took place in 2017, and what a success it was! With a festive market, street food, lantern-making and of course, Father Christmas switching the Christmas lights on himself, the market is sure to return in the coming years and build on its initial success.
