Best Things to Do in Bath at Night

Whimsical architecture, ornate Roman bathhouses and literature-rich history make Bath one of Britain’s most enticing destinations. While you may choose to spend the day lapping up soothing mineral springs or wandering the city’s galleries and museums, these tips from Culture Trip’s local insiders will keep you entertained long after the sun sets.
The Raven of Bath
Pub, Pub Grub
Fancy some traditional English pub fare? If so, then the Raven will satisfy your appetite for cosy pubs and hearty grub. This family-owned establishment in the heart of the city dishes out refreshing ales and ciders, along with famous pies, which prove popular with both meat-eaters and vegetarians. Enjoy the Raven Ale pie soaking in gravy and served on a bed of mash, and don’t forget to wash it down with one of the ales on offer. Recommended by local insider Matthew Wilcox
Tour the Roman Baths by torchlight
Historical Landmark, Architectural Landmark

It doesn’t take much to guess how Bath got its name, so a visit to this English city would not be complete without experiencing its famous bathhouses. While the baths can get a bit crowded during the day, especially on weekends, you may choose to visit at night when things have mellowed. To make the evening truly unique, book a Roman Baths guided tour by torchlight. It’s a truly magical way to spend the evening. After the tour, enjoy a glass of champagne or sparkling wine at the pop-up bar until 9.15pm. Recommended by local insider Matthew Wilcox
Be At One

Do you appreciate the art of a finely mixed cocktail? If so, the Be At One cocktail bar in Brunel Square is the perfect place for an evening tipple or a nightcap. Its friendly, laid-back team whips up plenty of delicious cocktails, including the bar’s signature Aperol spritz and daiquiris. You’ll also find this cocktail bar open at lunch. Happy hour runs from 3pm to 7pm, and while you can keep the party going here until 2am on weekends, you may want to arrive before 10.30pm to snag a seat. Recommended by local insider Madlena Gocheva
Opa
Restaurant, Mediterranean

Love Greek food? Looking for a romantic setting for dinner? If so, you’ll want to make a reservation at Opa. Dine on small plates of spanakopita, grilled meats and warm pita under a candlelit, vaulted cellar. To up the romance vibe, request a table on the terrace where you and your partner can relax and enjoy lovely views of the River Avon. The restaurant also offers an extensive list of Hellenic wines, as well as delicious cocktails. After the dinner crowd leaves, Opa sheds its restaurant persona to become a lively bar and nightclub.
