With a fascinating history dating back to the Roman era, a selection of artisan shops and restaurants and some excellent theatres, it’s easy to see why Bath is one of the top spots to visit in the UK. With so much to take in, it’s a city that will take a few days to make the most of. With that in mind, we’ve put together the best hostels for your next visit.
Found less than a two-minute walk from the famous Roman Baths, Annabelle’s guest house is a cosy option within a stone’s throw of landmarks including Bath Abbey and the Royal Crescent. Definitely a top choice for visitors wanting to spend as much time in the city as possible, Anabelle’s is just a short walk to most of the city’s well-known attractions. The guest house itself offers a variety of private rooms, with different layouts to suit your needs and a classic, comfortable feel. A continental breakfast is served every morning, giving guests a chance to fuel up before heading out for the day.
A classic B&B in the city, Wentworth House has plenty of well-furnished and traditional private rooms available for rent. Spread over nearly an acre of its own grounds, Wentworth House is a striking building in its own right. The guest house has a selection of great facilities for you to enjoy on your stay, including beautifully maintained gardens, a fully stocked bar that’s open throughout the day and even a heated pool. From some of the top floor rooms you’ll be treated to terrific views across the nearby countryside.
Right in the centre of the city, Bath Backpackers is a popular choice amongst the travelling community. Less than a five-minute walk from the nearby galleries, theatres and bars, it’s an ideal option for guests looking to make the most of the city’s vibrant nightlife as well as its famous attractions. The former town house has a choice of mixed or women-only dorm rooms depending on your preference, and has a colourful interior that matches its relaxed atmosphere.
The recently refurbished YHA hostel is an excellent option for those looking for a comfortable, affordable and enticing offering in the centre of the city. Following a £2.5 million investment in 2018, the hostel has never looked better, with a selection of pristine dorm rooms available and an excellent lounge area for catching up after a day of exploring. The shared kitchen and dining room areas are bright and spacious, providing a perfect spot to have a quick bite before continuing your exploration of the city.
If you’re looking for a more unique and eco-friendly experience during your visit to Bath, and like to feel out in the open, the Roundhouse is one for your consideration. A beautifully decorated yurt-style dwelling, set on a working organic farm, the house has everything you need contained in one large, round space. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, the guest house is a great way to explore the city or enjoy the beautiful local countryside. Make sure to visit the on-site farm shop for a great selection of homegrown items produced right here on the farm.
One of the popular St Christopher’s Inn Hostels commonly found in most UK cities, the Bath edition is definitely one of the best offerings for world-weary travellers. With creatively designed dorm rooms filled with clean and comfortable beds and a variety of different options dependent on your preference, it’s easy to see why St Christopher’s is a classic. On the doorstep of the city, the hostel also has an in-house bar and restaurant, Belushi’s Bar, that has been recently refurbished and gives significant discounts for anyone staying in the hostel. A great selection of beers and hefty meals is usually available.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.
Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.
Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
