Many of the hotels in Cheltenham were once the not-so-humble abodes of Gloucestershire’s upper crust. Now transformed into beautiful boutiques and bewitching B&Bs, they act as a base for out-of-towners having a flutter at Cheltenham Racecourse or tramping across the Cotswolds. Whatever your reasons for coming, here’s where you should stay in Cheltenham – bookable with Culture Trip.

Guests stay in one of 84 individually styled rooms, which combine period architecture with contemporary stylings. For a truly British experience – one Her Royal Highness would surely approve of – take to the Duke’s Tea Room for a cuppa and something sweet.

In the evening, the hotel bar is the place to sip seasonal cocktails fashioned by Malchemists behind the counter.
