The Best Autumn Music Festivals in the Netherlands

The festival season in the Netherlands extends throughout Autumn and includes many important international events during September, October and November. One of the biggest EDM events in the world, for example, takes place in Amsterdam over October, whilst elsewhere in the country places like the Hague or Utrecht host popular indoor festivals.

ZeeZout

📅 Saturday September 2nd

ZeeZout festival’s third edition will take place on Blijburg aan Zee beach and as always will feature a wide range of highly acclaimed EDM artists. Bicep, Woody and Omar Souleyman are booked for this year’s festival and will perform over one day in early September with many other international DJs and producers.

Into the Woods

📅 Friday September 8th to Saturday September 9th

As its name suggests, this two day electronic music festival takes place inside a secluded forest outside of the city of Amersfoort. There’s camping available onsite and Insterstellar Funk, Seth Troxler and Hunnee are booked to play besides many other leading names from the international EDM scene.

Appelpop

📅 Friday September 8th to Saturday September 9th

Appelpop is the largest two-day festival in the Netherlands that is completely free for the public. The festival mainly showcases talent from the Netherlands and has collaborated with many famous Dutch acts over the years including Anouk and Within Temptation. This year’s lineup includes Ronnie Flex & Deuxperience Band, de Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and Teske.

TodaysArt

📅 Friday 22nd to Saturday 23rd September

TodaysArt is a multi-disciplinary arts festival that focuses on contemporary developments within multiple technologically orientated fields. There’s always a wide variety of temporary art projects and installations at the festival which take place alongside performances and club nights.

Amsterdam Dance Event

📅 Wednesday October 18th to Sunday October 22nd

Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) ranks among the largest and most important electronic music events in the world. Literally thousands of musicians play at the festival and perform at over 200 individual venues around Amsterdam. Besides four days of concerts and club nights, ADE also organises dozens of industry workshops, conferences and pop-up events around the city.

London Calling

📅 Friday October 27th to Saturday October 28th

Amsterdam’s half-yearly rock festival London Calling is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017 and will hold its second annual edition at Paradiso this October. The festival’s line-up mainly revolves around punk, alternative rock and indie, and will feature around twenty acts such as Vagabon, Cameron Avery and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

Le Guess Who?

📅 Thursday November 9th to Sunday November 12th

Utrecht’s Le Guess Who? festival focuses on independent music and always books big names from alternative-rock, EDM and hip-hop. The festival’s program is partly curated by five musicians or bands who create their own personalised line-ups. This year Shabazz Palaces, Perfume Genius, Grouper, Han Bennink and Jeruseleum will act as curators and will play alongside many other acts including Weyes Blood and Mount Eerie.
