Amsterdam has some foodie treats that are very much its own – and a visit to the city isn’t complete without sampling at least a few of them. Culture Trip has curated a list of tours and experiences take you to the very belly of the Dutch capital.

To understand what makes a city tick, you have to understand the locals’ taste buds – and some of our favourite tours let you do just that. Sign up for one of the below and you’ll be filling your face with everything from local cheeses and pickled herring to stroopwafels and craft beers in no time.

Stroopwaffle workshop with dark beer tasting

Class

Even something as simple as making a stroopwafel has some hidden tricks. For example: fresh vanilla, and using dark brown local beer. Don’t worry, we will teach you! Instead of using milk, we use a dark Dubbel beer, to give it even more flavour. Search more at: stroopwaffle.org. Fun fact: did you know the Dutch have a rich tradition of drinking beer? In around 1700 it was considered healthier (and safer) to drink beer instead then water. While the dough is rising, we’ll present you with a small beer tasting where we will teach you more about Dutch Dubbel beer.
