It’s not an easy feat to discover the hidden gems of a city as large as Moscow, especially if you’re travelling to Russia for the first time. If you have some spare time, we highly recommend you check out this list of hidden gems you won’t read about in any touristic guide.

1. Stalin's Bunker

Museum

Located in the Izmaylovo district of Moscow, a bit far from the city centre, Stalin’s bunker is a true historical and hidden gem of the city, especially since no one even knew about its existence until a few years ago. Now it’s a historical museum with a conference room, two halls, three offices and a dining room.

2. Sherlock Holmes & Doctor Watson Monument

Established by the British Embassy of Moscow, this monument of legendary British detectives is located right in the heart of Moscow at Smolenskaya metro station. Legend claims that if someone sits in-between them and makes a wish, he or she will be lucky forever. This monument of Conan Doyle’s greatest detectives isn’t found anywhere else in the world and it’s open to public daily.
