Vilamoura is a vibrant coastal resort town on Portugal’s sunny south coast. The expansive marina is a sailor’s paradise. If you prefer land-based activities, go teeing off at one of the golf courses, sunbathe on the golden beaches, and strike it lucky at the huge casino. To keep hydrated, there are dozens of bars dotted around town serving up everything from cold pints of Guinness to jugs of sangria. Here, we present some of the best.

If you’re after something a little more exotic, the Caribbean Sensation should fit the bill (a heady blend of Kraken rum, coconut milk, passion fruit puree and pineapple juice), or, if cocktails aren’t your thing, there’s everything from Guinness to sangria on offer. There are plush bar stools inside, and a section of the square outside is decked out with tables during the summer months.

There’s also an extensive list of shots if you want to get the party started.
