Copenhageners know a thing or two about good food but apparently so do Californians. So, when the two culinary scenes met, the outcome was a hip restaurant in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro neighbourhood. California Kitchen serves healthy dishes made from fresh and nutritional ingredients such as avocado, lentils and quinoa – you name it. Grab a seat by the window and enjoy one of the colourful and super tasty bowls while watching the many bicycles crossing Nørrebrogade street.

Situated in Jægersborggade, one of Copenhagen’s hippest streets, Relæ lives up to the area’s high standard and serves high-quality dishes made from seasonal and organic ingredients. The Michelin-starred restaurant has been given the Sustainable Restaurant Award twice in a row, a fact that proves sustainability is an integral part of the restaurant’s philosophy.

Manfreds

Bar, Restaurant, Wine Bar, Danish, European

Manfreds shares the same values about food with its older sibling Relæ, only here the atmosphere is more relaxed and the prices lower. With ingredients collected from the owners’ farm and fresh meat provided by the best Danish farmers, each of the dishes at Manfreds is mouthwatering. You don’t have to wear your posh clothes to fit in at Manfreds. Instead, a great appetite for a masterfully cooked meal and a glass of natural wine is enough to make you enjoy the full experience.

Kiin Kiin

Restaurant, Diner, Thai

With its exotic decoration and even more exotic flavours, Kiin Kiin brings a bit of Thai culture in the heart of Copenhagen’s multicultural neighbourhood. The Michelin-starred restaurant serves a nine-course menu, which is enough to make every foodie fall in love with Thai cuisine and the restaurant’s chef Henrik Yde-Andersen.

Bæst

Restaurant, Danish, European, Vegan, Vegetarian

Inspired by the Italian cuisine, Bæst restaurant brings one of the world’s best pizzas in Nørrebro. And it’s not just us saying it. The Guardian ranked it 8th on their list of ‘The 10 best pizzerias worldwide’. Every pizza is made of organic ingredients (with the owners of Manfreds and Relæ at the wheel, we couldn’t expect anything less) topped with cheese made in the owners’ farm and baked in a wood-fired oven.

La Neta

Restaurant, Mexican, Vegetarian

With a sign written in bold, yellow letters reading ‘Auténtica Taqueria’, La Neta makes it instantly clear what you’re about to taste once you enter the restaurant. The playful design with the colourful furniture, the neon lights and the very Mexican-like cactuses certainly open your appetite for a veggie quesadilla with a cold beer and a tequila shot.

Sliders

Restaurant, American, Danish

Sliders is a place for those who appreciate a good burger and are always open to new flavours. Pork braised in coconut milk, flame-grilled patty with balsamic-marinated strawberries and braised duck in sweet chilli are only a few of the gourmet burger toppings you’ll find on Sliders’ menu.

Blue Taco

Restaurant, Mexican

Yes, you guessed that right, Blue Taco is a Mexican restaurant. The tacos here are indeed blue because they’re made of blue corn flour. Fill your gluten-free taco with meat and/or fresh vegetables, add a salsa that fits your taste and wash it down with a traditional light Mexican beer.

BRUS

Restaurant, Bar, Danish, European, Vegetarian

When entering the new Nordic-style brewpub BRUS, it’s hard to believe that the 750m2 building used to be an iron factory. Although the warehouse industrial style building gives away its past. With 13 fermentation tanks producing around 20,000 litres of different types of beer, a Michelin-starred chef leading a skilful kitchen team and a typical Danish minimalist interior design, BRUS has all the necessary characteristics to instantly become a hotspot. The kitchen is open on weekdays from 3pm, while late breakfast and brunch are served from 11am during the weekends.
