Top Trips for Disappearing into the Jungle

Lose the compass and let the wild be your guide when you book these jungle adventures with Culture Trip.

Give into the urge to pack a single bag, board a plane and get lost in the wilds of the world. You won’t need a map on these jungle excursions, just an appetite for adventure. Venture into areas where big cats and venomous snakes lounge about in secrecy, no more bothered by your presence than they are by the sun rays passing through the canopy. Cake mud on your boots as you hike through Thailand’s jungles or return from Nepal’s rapids with soaked-through socks. Whichever you choose, pack an extra change of clothes for these jungle adventures.
1 . The Real Costa Rica

We feel like “disappearing into the jungle” is a bit misleading when it comes to this nine-day Costa Rica getaway. You’ll certainly find yourself venturing into the Costa Rican cloud forest, riding down whitewater jungle rapids in La Fortuna and hiking through tropical landscapes in search of secret swimming holes. The “disappearing” part may just wait until your mind melts into a cup of joe at a coffee collective or when you’re lost in thought during a sunrise yoga class on the Pacific shoreline.

2 . Tropical Northern Thailand

The jungle theme couldn’t be more fitting for this 10-day tour of northern Thailand. Not only will you roll into the hills of Mae Hong Son for jungle trekking, but you’ll rock alongside a small group the size of Guns N’ Roses. Patience on an uphill climb will reward you with a picnic and possible sighting of Myanmar over the border in the distance. It’s so easy to let your mind wander deeper into the mysteries of this lush jungle, and even easier to say yes to all of the optional hikes throughout this tour.

3 . All-Action Nepal

Rather than ascend to the highest parts of the Himalayan landscape, venture deep into its interior during this 11-day Nepal excursion. You’ll whitewater raft down the Seti River, riding through thick jungle. But first, you’ll stretch your legs trekking through rice terraces and farmland. Your soles will rest on a safari through Chitwan National Park, but we can’t say the same about your soul. A search for Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinos will keep your heart racing, eyes peeled and mind full of possibility.

4 . Adventurous Ecuador
Ecuador may be a small nation but, with Andean peaks and Amazonian rainforests, there is plenty of jungle fun you can have on our adventurous eight-day trip here. After horse-riding in Cotopaxi National Park and hiking around Quilotoa crater lake we’ll head on a bike ride across the Banos waterfall route, stopping at three epic waterfalls amid the luscious surrounding greenery. Then it’s on to the Amazon, where we’ll white-water raft down Jatunyacu River and stay in a dreamy tropical jungle lodge, equipped with outdoor pool and spa facilities.

5 . Incredible Thailand and Laos by Train

As if the temples, elephants and jungle glamping sites of Thailand aren’t enough on their own, we decided to include a journey deep into Laos on this epic two-week Rail Trip. After crossing the border we’ll head down the Mekong River on a jungle boat cruise, stopping off at rural villages to meet locals and their whisky-making traditions. The highlight of Laos? Without doubt Kuang Si falls – a spectacular stream of turquoise water found deep within a steamy green rainforest. You’ll trek through the forest, stopping off at the falls for a few hours, on day nine of this tropical adventure.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel – and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Bespoke Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Bespoke Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm – and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
