In the UAE, a leading tourism destination, it is easy to get lost amongst skyscrapers, record-breaking structures, luxurious beaches and resorts, and extreme sports activities, but when visiting with children, not many of these would hold their attention for long, if at all. So if you’re planning to visit, here are six of the most fun things to do and places to visit with kids in Dubai.

Dubai Waterparks

The beauty of the UAE is that it’s always summer, and waterparks are always open! Wild Wadi, Yas Waterworld, and Aquaventure waterpark are some of the tourists’ favorite spots. Expect to raise your adrenaline with the Leap of Faith or the Tower of Poseidon, the biggest waterslide ride in the world. You can always sit back for a meal and even play with dolphins at Aquaventure’s Dolphin Bay. Residents opt for city escapes such as Dreamland Aqua Park, one of the first waterparks in the UAE, or Wadi Adventure where you can endure in water sports such as surfing or kayaking all year-round.

Ski Dubai

Park, Ski Resort

Located in the Mall of The Emirates, Ski Dubai is the UAE’s first and only indoor skiing facility. Open all year-round – yes, skiing to avoid the summer heat is a thing – you can expect to ski, snowboard, bobsled and even zip-line down the track. Children of all ages are welcome, and if snow activities aren’t for them, they can always hang out and meet the penguins!

Bounce Dubai

Building, Park

The indoor trampoline park is a great way to keep the kids entertained, especially during the summer months. Located in Al Qouz, the warehouse is packed with over 100 interconnected trampolines ready for a slam-dunk, wall jumps, trampoline dodge ball, and an all-around staff to guide you with tips and tricks! Parents are always welcome to join or have a snack at the terrace-like café overlooking the venue.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Aquarium, Zoo

Another mini adventure in the mall, Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo gives little explorers a chance to discover the zoo’s aquatic world, meet the resident otters and penguins, and walk through a tunnel of the world’s largest indoor aquarium. Open daily within the mall, it’s the perfect place to pass by when on your way to see the Burj Khalifa!

Dubai Ice Rink

One of the most popular choices for kids in Dubai is visiting the Dubai Mall Ice Skating Rink. Open all day, seven days a week, the rink is one of the largest in the city and, of course, made out to be one of the coolest. Children and adults are both welcome, and for the ones who are not too good on the ice, a little penguin or seal helper is always available to hold on to as you skate. Ticket prices vary according to age, but everyone’s welcome! Renting gear and meeting the coaches is a given, but this is not your usual ice rink, so be prepared to run into the Public Sessions, Freestyle Sessions, and everyone’s favorite: the weekend Disco Session!

Desert Safari

A day out in the deep UAE desert with music entertainment, dinner and henna painting, and rolling around in the sand! Although there are no particular activities specifically for children, you can always expect the camel rides, sand surfing, dune bashing, and entertainment after sunset. Prices vary according to the times of year and agencies booked through, so make sure to plan this trip ahead of time.
