Dubai is infamous for its hot summers, with temperatures as high as 42º Celsius in July and August. Summer is low season for tourism in Dubai, but that also means cheaper flights and hotel rates. So why not give the Dubai summer a chance by seeking out some cool spots when visiting?

1. Ski Dubai

As Dubai is located in the desert, it’s pretty exciting that it’s still possible to ski here. Ski Dubai offers visitors a cool experience, allowing them to ski and snowboard while the temperature shoots up outside. The slope also has it’s very own ice park for children and fun-loving adults — and there are even penguins! Clothing and equipment are provided at the venue, so don’t bother packing snow gear. It’s conveniently located in the Mall of the Emirates.

The Mall of the Emirates is a favorite among Dubai’s residents, with a vast variety of shops including music, electronics, luxury clothing, ready-to-wear and more. This is a fantastic place to spend the day window shopping and eating. There’s also a fantastic cinema — and plenty of air conditioning!

3. Wild Wadi Water Park

Sometimes escaping the heat isn’t the answer; you must find ways to truly enjoy it. Wild Wadi is one of the world’s most advanced water parks and is a fun for all ages. It has 30 rides, offering all levels of excitement, as well as a unique view of the Burj Al Arab, as the park is located right next to the famous hotel. The park also offers ladies nights, when only women and small children are allowed to enjoy the rides, and the park stays open until midnight.

4. Ice Skating in Dubai Mall

Shopping Mall

Dubai Mall is known as the largest shopping mall in the world and every fashion-lover’s dream hang out. As well as the air conditioning, the mall also has its own ice skating rink, guaranteed to be a fun experience filled with laughter (and maybe a couple of falls). This is an ideal attraction for both children and adults, and skates are provided at the venue.

5. Chillout Ice Lounge

If air conditioning doesn’t feel like enough, then Chillout Ice Lounge will do the trick. This is the first sub-zero ice lounge in the Middle East. Diners sit on ice chairs and eat on ice tables while surrounded by ice sculptures and, well, being surrounded by a whole lot of ice. This is the best place in town to grab a hot chocolate and sip on soup in the middle of summer, while enjoying a truly unique experience.

6. Aquaventure Waterpark

Park

This waterpark is ideal for the whole family, with relaxing rides like a lazy river, to thrilling slides, like the ‘leap of faith’. Aquaventure Waterpark is located right next to one of Dubai’s most well-known hotels, Atlantis, and guests get free access to the park. As well as the rides, the park also contains a marine life park where visitors can play with dolphins and sea lions, and dive at the Shark Lagoon.
