Dubai’s internationally acclaimed Emirates Golf Club is a must-visit for anyone from professionals to wanna-be golfers. However, if you’re looking for a truly unique golfing experience, head to the Faldo Course for a chance to golf under the stars.

A brief history of Emirates Golf Club

The Emirates Golf Club opened in 1988 and was the first of its kind in the Middle East. The world-renowned course is vastly known as one of the best in the world, and Golf World magazine ranked its Majilis Course one of “The Top 100 Golf Courses in the World” in 2010.

The club hosts major championships, including the European Tour-sanctioned Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. Professionals and amateurs alike get the chance to tee off in its selection of beautiful courses.
In addition to golfing, Emirates Golf Club holds several events throughout the year on its rare green scenery – it’s the first all-grass championship course in the Middle East to welcome all types of people and happenings, not only golfers. There are family activities, such as the Food Truck Jam, and music festivals, including Groove on the Grass.

The Faldo Course

Perhaps the most unique of all the courses that Emirates Golf Club has to offer is the Faldo Course, which opened in 1996. The course, with a total of 7,348 yards in length, is not only the singular fully floodlit 18-hole course in Dubai, but it is also the only one to offer golf in the evenings. With its closing hour being midnight every day, golfers get the chance to swing while admiring the night sky – as well as escaping the Dubai morning and mid-day heat during the hotter months.

Faldo Course’s aesthetic is breathtaking, with a natural wadi running through its length and trees providing much-needed shade. For those looking to test their golfing skills, the course also offers natural rolling desert terrain.
Although the course has been in operation for 21 years, night golfing started in 2010, proving itself highly popular since the beginning. With the Dubai Marina’s twinkling skyline as a pleasant distraction, anyone can book a time to come in and tee off in the evenings. The long open hours allow flexibility for those with a daily packed schedule, as well as a chance to experience golfing from a whole new perspective.
Timings are highly competitive, and it’s better to book in advance; prices vary depending on the season and time of day, and golfers can start their tee time as late as 9:45 PM.
