Dubai Takes Crazy A Step Further With Gold-Topped Burgers

Towering burger of epic proportions? Yes, please! A Dubai street-food festival is selling the Burj Khalifa of burgers – and it might just come in the most decadent bun ever.

Set to debut at Eat The World DXB is a colossal burger like no other: the Burg Khalifa, made with layers of Wagyu beef patty, seared duck foie gras, melted truffle cheese, and topped with blackberry ketchup and saffron mayonnaise – but that’s not all, the crowning glory is a 24-carat gold-leaf bun.

The brainchild of The Roadery in London, this avant-garde dish is inspired by the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. Dubai has an “undisputed reputation for luxury and [an] incredible ability to build almost anything bigger and better than the rest of the world – we couldn’t return to Eat The World DXB without something extra-special this year,” according to The Roadery owner Dan Shearman.

“It’s going to be one of the most expensive burgers in the region,” he adds. “We promise you’ll get more than your money’s worth with the premium-quality ingredients!” This hefty bite to eat will set you back Dh230 ($62.62/£50.21). But with five layers of ethical, halal meat, gourmet sauces, and fresh ingredients – not to mention the gold bun – it might just be the worth the price.

Leading the British street-food revolution: The Roadery food truck

The Burg Khalifa has been created exclusively for the UAE and Eat The World DXB, an annual, three-day street-food event set to host 25 local and international vendors from three continents. There’s also live music and an outdoor cinema with food-related short films, plus a children’s zone and chill-out tent. The festival runs from 23-25 February 2017 and costs Dh40 ($10.89/£8.73) per person in advance, or Dh50 ($13.61/£10.92) at the door.
