In the last couple of years, food trucks have taken over Dubai. Providing burgers, pizza, Chinese and much more, they offer variety, practicability and mouth-watering food. From SALT in Kite Beach to the massive events promoting street food culture, the range of options is seemingly limitless.

Kite Beach

One of Dubai’s most popular public beaches, Kite Beach is a favorite of both residents and visitors. The beach offers several attractions, including a running track, a skate park and a breath-taking sunset view of the Burj Al Arab. For those looking to grab a bite at the beach, Kite Beach is the residence of Dubai’s most famous food truck: SALT. Expect to find a long line of customers at all times of day, but the wait is worth it. Aside from tasty slider burgers, the food truck also offers unique Cheetos fries. The dish is so popular, there’s even a massive statue of the fries in front of the establishment. SALT is right by the beach and visitors can sink their feet in the sand while placing their order. In addition to their food, SALT’s staff are the friendliest in town – this place is definitely a must try.

Last Exit

Food trucks have proven themselves so popular in the city, venues have been created to cater to the needs of food lovers: Last Exit. Located in three locations, including on one of the UAE’s main roads, Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), Last Exit gathers a vast variety of food trucks and has a trailer park hipster atmosphere. There’s a something for every taste, including seafood, burgers, hot dogs, pizza and more. In addition to Last Exit E11, another location is Al Qudra (D63), which has another five food trucks offering gourmet street food. A third location in Al Khawaneej (D89), further establishes food truck culture amongst Dubai’s residents and visitors.

Popular independent food trucks

Exploring Dubai, one can find several food trucks spread around all parts of the city. The Emirate’s food truck staples vary in style, cuisine and location – but they are all certainly delicious. In the Palm Jumeirah, one can find the Pineapple Express food truck, offering delicious açai bowls and other healthy snacks – this is the ideal food truck for anyone looking for paleo options.

During a drive down Jumeirah Lake Towers, it’s impossible not to notice the 1762 double-decker truck. What makes this venue unique is that diners can actually enjoy their meal on the second level of the bus.

Melt can be found in Jumeirah Beach Residence and is widely known for their delicious, fat-free frozen yoghurt.

Street Food Events

Other than the year-round food trucks, Dubai holds several events throughout the year to further encourage people to give street food a chance. Between the months of November and April, TruckersDXB happens weekly and is hugely popular with families looking to do something different over the weekend. TruckersDXB moves around every Friday or Saturday and has been held anywhere from golf courses to desert resorts. Its most regular location is The Emirates Golf Club, where the Food Truck Jam also takes place. Normally on Saturdays, the event brings together food trucks, live music, drinks and family attractions. The event is entirely free and all ages are welcome to join.
Another favorite for Dubai’s foodies is Eat The World DXB. The event takes place in February and brings together 25 international food trucks. The food fest this year was held at the Burj Park with a privileged view of the Burj Khalifa. Much like the Food Truck Jam, Eat The World holds live music performances, family attractions and provides a platform for regional traditions like henna, falcons and Arabic coffee. The food trucks offer everything from gourmet grilled-cheese sandwiches to Korean sushi and are a massive success – a bargain with an entrance fee of only AED50 (US$14).
