Inspirational Shops for Design Lovers in Istanbul

Located in Çukurcuma, where you can find Istanbul’s best antique and vintage stores, designer Hakan Ezer’s showroom is a unique confluence of old and new. You’ll find antique objects that seem to harmonise perfectly with more modern pieces and you’ll definitely want to buy a few things to add something unique to your living quarters.

The modern interpretation of classic motifs and traditional hand-craftsmanship are what make Armaggan quite a unique design store. Their Objets d’Art are inspired by both the Anatolian and Ottoman Empires and include beautiful silver vases, glass paperweights, and Sahan plates with intricate handmade details.

More like a design store you’d find in Berlin, the minimal aesthetic of Ham:m is complimented by its focus on natural wood. Their showroom is full of beautiful furniture but also objects from local designers.

A brother and sister established this design store in Çukurcuma, which, quite unlike its surroundings, does not focus on antiques. You’ll find very modern creations such as colourful wrought iron lamps and solid wood workbenches and tables at Som Interior.

One of the best design stores on Istanbul’s Asian side, Bizon Studio sells ceramic, wood, and metal designs that have been crafted locally. The owners also make sculptures and jewellery in an atelier on the basement floor.

Located in a former Orthodox Church in the trendy Karaköy neighbourhood, Atölye 11 is a colourful space full of beautiful objects from local designers. You’ll find pillows with hand-printed motifs, vintage furniture, and unique decorative objects.

This design shop is all about lighting, specifically industrial lighting in case you want to add something quite unusual to your living space. Onsekiz has pieces from the 30s to the 70s, from factory lamps to vintage hanging lamps that are absolutely unique.

Quite a sleek showroom with very modern furniture and design objects, Archive is one of those design shops that beckons passers-by to enter. Gorgeous pieces from Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Germany are all a source of inspiration.

Handmade objects made from the wood of olive and walnut trees are what make this design shop so special. At Amorf, beautiful cutting boards, bowls, and tables are smooth to the touch and have the natural imprints of bark.
